We have a lot of program spotlights this week. With the nature of precarious and insecure work being such a big topic in 2020, we highlight a great episode on the topic of Stick Together. We have a mini Woodford Folk Festival special coming up on Recorded Live, and spotlight some of our Extras. We even have another cat wearing shades in the sunshine to ask you about your summer plans - you know you want to see it, so just keep scrolling!

What are you doing over the summer?

We're still wanting to know your plans!

What are you doing this summer? Whatever it is, we want to know - we might just have some content for you, or you for us! This week we've got a different image of cats enjoying the sunshine (this time the sweet summer arvo sun).

We still want to know what all you cool cats are doing this summer. Do you have gaps you'll need to fill at your station as your presenters will be racing off to the beach? Or do you even have some interesting summer specials or series that would be great to hear on a hot day?

Either way, we're keen to hear about what your stations plans are for the summer. Click the button below to email us about what your station is planning for the season.

Casualisation in the Workforce

An important discussion on Stick Together

Credit - Redline: Simon Oosterman Beckers
If there is one thing that the pandemic has highlighted for all of us is the huge problem there is with precarious and insecure work not only just here in Australia, but across the globe.

This is highlighted this week on Australia's only national radio show focusing on industrial, social and workplace issues, Stick Together.

This week they focus on the true cost of precarity as is relates to the recent South Australian COVID-19 scare, and speak with Anastasia from CUPUW (Casualised, Unemployed and Precarious University Workers), about how casual university workers are fighting to save their industry.

Despite this conversation focusing on University workers, it's important to remember that casual and insecure work is prevalent in many industries, and It's also important to remember the significance of having a voice for workers rights broadcast across community radio, which is why we're so proud to have Stick Together broadcasting across the Community Radio Network.

Stick Together:

  • 27'50
  • Wednesdays from 18:04
  • Available via satellite, DDN and download.

We have all been missing live music, but as things are calming down with COVID in Australia for the most part, we are starting to head back out again, and small gigs are starting to happen in some parts of the country.

Recorded Live's host John Robinson has often brought us recordings from many great festivals and live music events from around the country, so for a treat heading into summer he has packaged up some of his favourite recordings from the 2019 Woodford Folk festival, showcasing his best picks of the year.

The Woodford specials will be playing from the 6th of December, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for more info about the artists you'll expect to hear coming soon.

And in some other Recorded Live news, there will now be a repeat of the content on Thursdays at 10:42 AEDT. So if you need something off the satellite live on Thursdays then Recorded Live might just be one of your new offerings for December!
