To collect 50 – 100 points primarily through online activities really is a great accomplishment – pretty much 5 points at a time! In 2021, we anticipate we will be able to run face-to-face events again, so the points will be easier to accumulate as those activities are worth more!
RURAL UP PEOPLE ...
Last week we were joined at the Bathurst Rural Clinical School by 16 students from RHUWS and 8 students from Macquarie Uni's equivalent student organisation. They were doing a 'Rural Outreach' Tour. They spent three days in the Central West. During their visit they spoke with students from a number of local high schools about their uni courses and experiences. They did an excellent job and feedback from the schools was excellent. They also met local health practitioners, toured hospitals, visited Careflight, and experienced some the social offerings of Bathurst, including pub trivia.
... PLACES
RuralHealthPro's series called A Healthy Exchange recently featured Tamworth. Host James Knight was joined by GP Professor Jenny May, Registered Nurse and credentialed diabetes educator Kate Ryan, and local entrepreneur Sam Treloar who shared their experiences of living and working in Tamworth, NSW. It was livestreamed on Facebook and can be viewed here:
THE RuralUP TRACKER
The RuralUP Tracker 2021 is now available.
Use the Tracker to record your face-to-face activities from 16 November onwards. You can also do online activities - we have added lots of new ones for you!
RURAL UNDERGRADUATE PATHWAY
[RuralUP]
In short, the Rural Undergraduate Pathway (RuralUP) is designed to allow students in the School of Medicine to explore opportunities in rural areas as an undergraduate. Through RuralUP, students gain an understanding of what it is like to work in rural areas and develop their peer and professional networks. If you would like to know more, see the RuralUP Flyer.
