However you choose to spend the holidays, The Haven extends our warmest wishes for the Holiday Season to all of our supporters who have made our work possible.
Thank you to our volunteers who masked up and helped us fold thousands of envelopes to prepare to send out our annual magazine that is filled with lots of facts and information on this past year's work at The Haven.

Whether they are staff members, volunteers, or board members, we are so thankful to have so many folks supporting us. That's why we are featuring spotlight posts on our Facebook and Instagram to highlight the individuals and groups that make our work possible. This month's volunteer spotlight is on Stratford Harbour Smile Makers.

The Haven is excited to feature Stratford Harbour Smile Makers in this week's spotlight post celebrating the folks who support us. Smile Makers are a group of friends and neighbors with the goal of doing “good works” that would bring smiles to those around them. They rely on fundraisers like yard sales, bake sales, a holiday bazaar, and an annual luncheon to support their work that includes supporting The Haven, Backpack Buddies (a weekend food supplement program for school aged children), Cople Elementary’s Sponsors for Success program, John N. Bowie, Jr Memorial Technical Scholarship, and many other charitable endeavors. Smile Makers have supported The Haven by donating much needed items, helping with childcare, and assisting with events throughout the year.

Hearts and Crafts with The Haven Episode 2
Welcome to the second episode of Hearts and Crafts with The Haven!  Deanna, our Child and Family Resilience Coordinator and Dawn, our Youth Resilience Coordinator are providing opportunities for parents, youth, and children in the community to play and build social emotional skills!  When we were not in a pandemic, they were doing a kid's group. They missed it so much that they created this YouTube Show to help fill that need until they can do groups again! This show is designed for kiddos and their adults to do together! Feel free to watch the above video or subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

In this episode they're talking about gratitude and making a grateful, gaudy, gourd!  Gather the materials below and let's play!
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Cup of Water; to wash the paintbrush
  • Real or Styrofoam Pumpkin--you could even cut out a paper pumpkin!
  • Gold or Silver Sharpie

The event is being produced through the generosity of Glenn and Joy Evans and their hand picked cast of actors. Stay tuned for details on how to get your ticket for this new Christmas family "tradition."
Mark your calendars for December 5th and 6th because The Haven Christmas Market is returning. This year we will be having it at The Richmond County Fairgrounds.
