No reader left behind.
That’s the vision of Read Muskegon.

In spite of the challenges COVID has thrown us this year -- from barriers to providing tutoring to postponed fundraisers -- we remain committed to our vision. With innovation and collaboration, we’ve been able to launch several new, exciting programs this year

Learn more about how we’re ensuring no reader is left behind through:

  • Muskegon Heights Hope Center: connecting transient youth and parents with access to virtual learning, tutoring and family literacy programs

  • HEAL Program: Empowering community members with low health literacy to better manage their health and training local doctors to identify and work with low-literacy individuals to create meaningful conversations and trust in their medical journey

  • EXIT Program: Installing Muskegon County Jail’s first-ever virtual learning system, in order to continue building the functional literacy skills of incarcerated individuals to support their re-entry into our communities.

We know that when our learners are supported with tutoring, family-based programming, and health-literacy initiatives, their entire lives are changed and generational cycles of poverty can end. Literacy is the key that opens the door to so many opportunities, and we are committed to educating as many individuals as possible.

Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to continue making sure no reader is left behind -- even during COVID. Thank you for making these new programs possible!
