As many of you know, Giving Tuesday is coming up on Tuesday, December 1st. We at Mennonite Men look forward to your support to help grow our mission of engaging men to grow, give, and serve as followers of Jesus. While we've faced new and difficult challenges this year due to the pandemic, we've carried on with ministries and had a busy and fruitful year.

We're creating new resources on healthy masculinity, Christian formation, and community, launched a tree-planting campaign to address climate change and help restore the earth, and we've given a record number of grants to help new congregations acquire their first church building.

JoinMen:
New resources and webinars to equip men

We continue to have positive responses to our book Peaceful at Heart: Anabaptist Reflections on Healthy Masculinity, produced with the Institute of Mennonite Studies. The Ontario office of Mennonite Central Committee is producing a study guide of this book and a video series based on this book is also being pursued to help promote healthy masculinity.

Building on this work, we are now creating Strong, Loving and Wise: A Manual for Men, for use in congregations. We are also available to conduct workshops in your congregation or men's group on this important issue.

Although we canceled our 2020 retreats due to COVID-19, we are in the process of planning online retreats for 2021. If you’re interested in an online retreat or webinar with Mennonite Men, you can look at the themes we offer congregations, men's groups and retreat centers at mennonitemen.org/joinmen. Please feel free to contact us and we'd be glad to plan it with you!

JoinTrees:
Strong launch to tree-planting campaign

Our campaign to help restore the earth by planting one million trees by 2030 had a strong launch this fall. The campaign, which targets the problem of climate change and its negative impacts on God's earth and people, already has over 400 trees planted in Goshen, IN, and other tree-planting projects are already lined up in Indiana, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Mennonite Men is locating land, forming a network of partners and resources, assisting with tree planting, and receiving contributions for this campaign. We invite men's groups, youth groups, congregations, universities, nonprofits, and other groups to participate in this campaign. Learn more and get involved at mennonitemen.org/jointrees.

JoinHands:
A record year for grants to new churches

2020 was the biggest year ever for JoinHands, our program to provide grants to help new congregations acquire their first church building. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of our donors, by the end of the year we will have extended $170,000 to five congregations! Mennonite churches we assisted this year were all ethnic-racial congregations serving our African, Chin, Haitian and Hispanic sisters and brothers.

In the last issue of Engage, we featured African Community Church of Lancaster, a member of Altantic Coast Conference. While the congregation is taking precautions due to the pandemic, having their own space is allowing them to expand their congregational ministries, as well as outreach to the community. We invite your contributions to help us make this $40,000 JoinHands grant to this congregation. Learn more at mennonitemen.org/joinhands.

Looking for a great Christmas present?

Consider purchasing the book, Peaceful at Heart: Anabaptist Reflections on Healthy Masculinity, published by Mennonite Men in collaboration with the Institute of Mennonite Studies. The book promotes Anabaptist Christian perspectives on masculinity that are more peaceful, just, caring, and life-giving for men and sensitive to women and children than many dominant images of masculinity and the hyper-masculine images promoted by contemporary popular culture and wider evangelical Christianity.

This volume draws on Anabaptist perspectives of faith which invite men to experience God's call to live at peace and be peacemakers.

See the outline of the book and its authors here. Canadian buyers click here. A Kindle version is also now available here.
