Dear OpenBCI Community,

Today, we are thrilled to unveil Galea.

Galea is a hardware and software platform that merges next-generation biometrics with mixed reality. This is the first device that integrates EEG, EMG, EDA, PPG, and eye-tracking into a single headset. The Galea hardware will be integrated into existing AR and VR head-mounted displays and will include SDKs for bringing rich and tightly time-locked biometric data into 3D development engines, 3rd-party applications, and all common programming languages. By combining this multi-modal sensor system with the immersion of augmented and virtual reality, Galea gives researchers, developers, and creators a powerful new tool for understanding and augmenting the human mind and body.

Galea is the result of OpenBCI’s six years of experience at the center of consumer neurotech. We’ve listened to your feedback and watched as members of the community have developed integrations between our products and head-mounted displays. For the last 2+ years, our amazing team of engineers and designers has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this device to you. We look forward to introducing them and sharing the Galea story in more detail over the coming months.

We will be making an initial batch of devices available to select partners as part of the Galea Beta Program. If you're interested in receiving updates about this early access opportunity, visit Galea.co to sign up.

To everyone who has helped OpenBCI become what it is today, thank you for your Kickstarter pledges, Github commits, documentation edits, donations, purchases, publications, community posts, social mentions, and so much more. We know it sounds cheesy, but we wouldn’t be where we are today without you. We hope that this new extension of the OpenBCI platform will further our mission to remove barriers to entry for neurotechnology and ensure that BCI impacts humanity in a positive way.

Sincerely,

The OpenBCI Team
