Do you read the genealogies? 

It is easy to let our eyes skim past the lists of names and numbers in the Old Testament so we can get back to the story. In stories like that of Ezra, the genealogies show us, among other things, the importance the Ancient Israelites placed on bloodlines and pedigree. It is important to make sure they are easy to understand and fit into the context of the book. 

The JSL translation of these portions will include animated graphics to help visualize the family trees in addition to the signed text. Important figures are given unique sign names that are based on some identifying quality about them. 

The team has recorded revisions to the drafts of Ezra 7-10, and are now preparing the drafts for community comprehension checking. However, the resurgence of COVID19 cases may cause some issues with scheduling and meeting for this important work. Please remember the team in your prayers as they move towards completing the book of Ezra!
