La newsletter di novembre ci trova assediati dal corona-virus ma non arresi.

Combattiamo con buon umore,  pazienza, speranza e rimanendo attivi: Un libro pieno di

mosaici, mostre e le Mascherine volanti,  il nuovo progetto aimc, in collaborazione con

le socie argentine Maria Amalia Beltran e Marga Court. Questa volta, i ritratti dei soci

AIMC, in sintonia  con l'attuale situazione globale, saranno mascherati.

Mascherine  disegnate in mosaico, semplici o elaborati, simboliche o figurative;  tutte

riveleranno il desiderio di creare.

E, per ricordare in questi tempi la parola “insieme”, la newsletter si conclude con le foto di

“LE RASSEMBLEMENT” (La raccolta), il progetto comunitario di Vaudreuil-Dorion,

Dear friends,

Τhe November newsletter finds us besieged by the corona virus but not surrendered.

We fight in a good mood, with patience and hope, with activities: a book full of mosaics,

exhibitions and the new aimc project, in collaboration with the Argentinian members Maria

Amalia Beltran and Marga Court : Flying masks. This time, the AIMC members’

Portraits, in tune with the current global trend, will be masked. 

Masks with a variety of mosaic designs, simple or elaborate ones, symbolic, or

unexpected, but all revealing the desire to create.

LE RASSEMBLEMENT (La raccolta - The gathering)

Un progetto comunitario: Vaudreuil-Dorion  2019-2020

Durante l'autunno del 2019, Monica Brinkman (mosaicista) e Tina Struthers (artista tessile) hanno avuto il privilegio di presentare il progetto “LE RASSEMBLEMENT” (la raccolta) alla loro comunità di Vaudreuil-Dorion in Québec Canada. Era un sogno per loro quello di mettere insieme le loro pratiche artistiche individuali di tessile e mosaico contemporaneo. Entrambi queste tecniche sono tattili e utilizzano materiali che si riferiscono alla vita di tutti i giorni. L’intento era quello di effettuare la connessione tra materialità ed espressione individuale dell'identità accessibile a un grande pubblico. 
Questo progetto ha dato agli artisti e ai partecipanti l'opportunità di riunire la loro comunità 
tra pratiche artigianali tradizionali in un contesto contemporaneo. Nel corso di 20 workshop  hanno partecipato più di 385 persone  di 30 organizzazioni comunitarie. I partecipanti hanno avuto la possibilità di creare nuove amicizie mentre lavoravano insieme in collaborazione su piccoli opere d'arte. 
Durante l'autunno 2020, Monica e Tina sono state finalmente in grado di montare e presentare il loro progetto di 11x 2,5 m (36 x 8 piedi), installazione di technica mista, presso il complesso sportivo a Vaudreuil-Dorion. Il progetto è stato finanziato dalla città di Vaudreuil-Dorion per celebrare il 25 ° anniversario della loro fusione. 



A Community project: Vaudreuil-Dorion 2019-2020

During the fall of 2019, Monica Brinkman (mosaic artist) and Tina Struthers (Textile artist) had the privilege to present the project “LE RASSEMBLEMENT” (the gathering) to their community of Vaudreuil-Dorion in Québec Canada. It was a dream for them to combine their individual artistic practices of contemporary textile and mosaic.  Both these mediums are tactile and use materials that relate to everyday life. Making the connection between materiality and individual expression of identity approachable to a large-scale public. This project gave the artists and the participants an opportunity to reunite their community through traditional craft practices in a contemporary context. Over the course of more than 20 workshops reuniting over 385 participants from over 30 Community organisations, the participants had a chance to create new friendships while working together on small collaborative artworks. During the fall of 2020 Monica and Tina were finally able to assemble and install the 36 x 8-foot (11x2,5 m.) mixed media installation at the local sports complex in Vaudreuil-Dorion. 
This project was funded by the city of Vaudreuil-Dorion to celebrate the 25-year anniversary of their fusion.
