T&E CARE ANNUAL HOLIDAY DRIVE
Please consider supporting T&E Care's Annual Holiday Drive. Below are details on this year's event:
- Wish lists can be found on our website until December 4. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE LISTS!
- Because we are not collecting food or cleaning baskets this year we will offer gift cards instead which means we will need even more gift cards than ever before. Thanks for understanding! You are encouraged to drop off gift cards as soon as you get them to help us with our planning. Send a note to giftcards@tecare.org for details.
- In addition to gift cards, there are lots of gifts requested on the wish lists - so if you want to be more personal - check them out!
- We are asking that all gifts be wrapped and labeled in advance of delivery (our website has labeling directions).
- Drop off of gifts (and any gift cards not yet dropped off) will take place on either December 5 or 6. Drop off locations will be emailed to you once you sign up. To avoid driving to different locations try to select all gifts from the same family.
Please contact our BES T&E Care Reps Patty Neeb or Auste Joost with any questions or to request a porch pick up. Thank you in advance for your support!
TESD APPROVED TO USE FLEXIBLE INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS
TESD was recently approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to utilize up to five Flexible Instructional Days (FIDs) beginning this school year. The Flexible Instructional Day (FID) Program is available to public school districts as an alternate option for providing instruction if circumstances prevent standard instructional formats.
1. What is a Flexible Instructional Day?
A Flexible Instructional Day (FID) can be used in cases when circumstances such as hazardous weather conditions or other emergency situations prevent the delivery of instruction in the usual manner or location. Implementing a FID will not require additional make-up days when school is canceled. FIDs are considered school days and count toward the number of instructional days/hours required by PDE.
2. How will I know if there is a Flexible Instructional Day?
The TESD school community will be notified of a FID in the same way that we communicate delayed start times, cancellations and other emergency situations. These communication methods include the District’s mass notification system, TE All-Call, as well as the District website.
3. What happens on a Flexible Instructional Day?
- Students will not report to school in person on a FID.
- Students will log into Schoology for attendance by 9:30 AM. A parent must contact the school attendance office on the next school day for any absences during a FID.
- Students will attend virtual sessions with their teachers according to a modified FID schedule and will complete posted assignments.
- Students may also contact teachers by email or through Schoology during the school day with questions at times outside of the virtual sessions.
4. How will a student access their classes or assignments if there is a power outage or Internet service issues, which often happen during inclement weather?
If students are not able to access assignments through the virtual platforms, assignments can be e-mailed directly to parents or students. A method of communication will be developed in the event a student does not have any access to internet during the FID.
5. How long will students have to complete Flexible Instruction Day lessons and assignments?
Students will be credited for “attending" the FID once they complete and turn in the materials required either online or through hard copy. Students will have two school days to complete the FID activities for full credit.6. What happens if a student does not complete Flexible Instructional Day activities?
In cases where students were unable to gain access to the materials on the FID, a hard copy of the activities will be provided to the students on the next regular school day. Students who do not complete FID lessons and assignments after two school days may be marked absent for the FID and may not receive full credit for the FID assignments. TESD will make every effort to work with families who were unable to access FID materials.
