Update from General Manager 

Dear Members
I hope that you are all well and managing to get out on the water.
COVID news in NSW has been very encouraging for some time, however restrictions are still in place and the Club continues to maintain the high standards required to keep our members, guests and staff safe and that are also expected of us by authorities. More details click HERE.

Harken Open Results

Eleven teams representing CYCA, RSYS & RPAYC battled it out over three days of incredibly tough racing on the Club's fleet of Elliott 7's. The new event and format consisted of 21 fleet races and a full Semi & Finals Series in Match Racing to crown the overall winners. More details click HERE.

Save the date for the RPAYC Christmas Lunch which will be held on Sunday 20th December.
Halyards Bistro will have a special Christmas Menu available from 1200hrs with Christmas cheer & tunes.

Flare Disposal this Sunday - Bayview

Members are reminded to ensure that you never dispose of current, expired or used flares into any waste bins. Flares must be disposed of through designated collection sites designed specifically for Flare disposal. Please refer to the RMS Website for all drop-off options.
The next local collection is :BAYVIEW BOAT RAMP, Sun 29 Nov 07.30-1500.

Two-Handed Expo 

Saturday 21 November saw RPAYC hold a Two-Handed Seminar with guest speakers David Sampson and Lee Condell. Nick Elliott opened the seminar with a short presentation on the RPAYC's involvement with shorthanded sailing and how the club was planning to continue this into the future. More details click HERE.

Racing Rules with Steve Hatch - 9 Dec

RRS 20201-24 take effect from 1 Jan 2021, so join International Umpire Steve Hatch as he discusses the new Racing Rules. Wed 9 Dec - 1730 - 1830hrs applicable for centreboard, racing & cruising. Due to COVID regulations, please book with reception on 9998 3700.

Proper lookout 

A reminder to skippers & crew to maintain an appropriate lookout for fellow boaters to avoid the chance of any incidents occurring whilst on the water. 5 tips to keep an appropriate lookout - More details click HERE. 
 

Equipment Audits Process Reminder

Members are reminded it is a requirement when having your audit done that you have prepared the boat beforehand with all equipment laid out and labelled ready for inspection, or easily accessible to the volunteer auditor. This process greatly assists in the efficiency and timely manner of completing your audit.

CENTREBOARD NEWS

 

29er Results 

A strong fleet of 37 boats competed in the 29er NSW State Championships at Wangi on the weekend. Nine RPAYC boats competed in the event with a special mention to Daniel Links & Markus Sampson who were on the podium in 3rd place overall. Full results here.

Nacra Results

The Nacra 15 2020 State Championships were held at Wangi Wangi on Lake Macquarie. The Nacra 15 fleet comprised competitors from NSW and QLD. On the Nacra start line side by side with the Nacra 15s, were the Nacra 17 Olympic class. More details click here.

Flying Ant Results

The Flying Ant States were held at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club over the weekend with a fleet of nine competing. Congratulations to Piper Attwood & Annabelle Sampson who were 4th overall. Whilst Archie Pethard & Abby McCutcheon were 1st overall on handicap, congratulations.

CRUISING NEWS

Race'n'Cruise - 21 Nov

Thank you to those who joined in on our last "Pursuiting" for the year. An excellent job by the handicapper with the first two across the line within a few seconds and all boats within 10 minutes. We then enjoyed a lazy afternoon on Hallets Beach. Official results:

* Galadriel withdrew to provide the service as Start Boat.

First Friday - 4 Dec

Estuary Cruise to Yeomans Bay - 5/6 Dec

The December Estuary Cruise will be to Yeomans Bay. A great place to relax ahead of the Christmas rush. Meet in the vicinity of the RMYC Port Pile at 10:00am for a cruise in company or meet at Yeomans Bay.

Cruise to Lake Macquarie 28 Dec - 10 Jan

With dredging now commenced despite some initial setbacks it is looking good for the post Christmas cruise to Lake Macquarie. We have organised to meet up with the cruising group from Lake Macquarie Yacht Club for New Years Eve. Click here for more details.

TRAINING NEWS

 

Adult 'Start Crewing' Course - 1 spot left

Our next Adult Learn to Sail Program (Start Crewing) kicks off this Sunday 29 Nov, which will include four sessions conducted weekly on Sundays from 0900 - 1200hrs. This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a keelboat. Learn the basics, whilst staying relatively dry! Training will be conducted on the Club's fleet of Elliott 7 Keelboats.
