More Moves At the Roundhouse
Saturday Nov 21st
This Saturday we may have some of the last clear weather days of the year. Last Saturday, volunteers enjoyed some nice weather to begin clearing brush from the Otis track parallel to Quigley Avenue. This work needs to continue so that we can use the track for storage needs before the E8s and cars from the South Receiving Yard can be moved. Volunteers also got most of the loose contents of some steel bins unloaded and placed in a storage container. There is still one bin to be sorted for storage and some other items to be placed in the upper containers. Storage racks outside near the containers are to be moved into the warehouse to increase storage capabilities there.

Staff members have pressure washed the roundhouse walls where the sand blast cabinet stood and have begun painting, so there are some cleanup chores there.

The pallet racks in the warehouse building are nearly full. We can empty the pallet racks in stall 5 dismantle them and erect them with the others. Side rods in stall 5 can be moved out to the warehouse along with some other small parts.

Operating crew members are always needed to help in case of Saturday tours.
Preparations for the Holidays
The Board has decided to proceed with Christmas tours using our current format. Etix only in reserved time slots in groups of no more than 10. Our decorations won't be as extensive as last year, but we will need help in erecting some of the trees we have and setting up lighted paths. We also need to ensure clear paths throughout the roundhouse and will need to do some housecleaning for this. Ideas on having a limited contact gift shop available for visitors are welcome.
CVSR has cancelled their Polar Express events. This may or may not have an impact on our Holiday Tours.
CSX
During the week there may be more abandoned CSX equipment brought to the Roundhouse, so some volunteers may be needed to deal with the influx.
Anyone working in the yard must have proper PPE to include safety vest and hard hats.
The State of Ohio has mandated a curfew and mask requirements for all businesses. Please respect your fellow volunteers and use a mask and maintain distance inside and out.
Casual visitors cannot be allowed on site, especially those with out a mask. The State is now imposing monetary fines for violators.
