Dear Pastors, ministry and prayer leaders,

Christmas lockdown: Normally we anticipate inviting the community to special Christmas services ,which often crown the church year. This year what if we went to the community instead?

Christmas caroling: What if our people instead went out in our “bubbles” to sing Christmas carols on the street where we live (perhaps also to mall parking lots) lifting up the joy of Christmas? What if there were 100 groups of 3 or 5 scattered throughout the city Dec 23-25? Might not we be able to let the light of Christ shine even during lockdown?

Protocol: While Dec 23-25 protocol may change, we could adjust the size of caroling groups. We may be allowed to meet in church parking lots before walking through nearby neighborhoods. We could certainly pray as we walked (prayer-walking our neighborhoods, seeking the Lord’s blessing, light and encouragement to the spiritually oppressed). We may wish to offer a simple Gospel message such as "Finding the Hope" (www.ehc.ca) or simply a smile.

Organization is minimal. Pastors could cast the vision and ensure awareness of protocol-of-the-day. Worst-case-scenario might be driving slowing through quiet neighborhoods with windows rolled down and hearts lifted high!

Please pray about the possibility with your church or ministry group. Share the idea with your "bubble." Let’s lift up our hearts and praise the Lord this Christmas!
In Christ,
Murray Moerman

“What is Intercession and How Can we Enlarge our Capacity for Harvest”
If you've not yet watched, Temi Aluko of Lower Mainland Intercessors spoke to Ridge Meadows pastors and ministry leaders to make clear the nature of intercession and share what she senses the Spirit to be saying to the church (Rev. 2:7). Please watch this recording of her presentation:

      (See web for text version.)

Fresh approaches for remarkable times…
One striking question Temi raises is how would we disciple a great influx of seekers or new believers when the Lord answers our prayer for a great harvest as our world is growing increasingly desperate? A more immediate question comes to me also. How can we disciple the church “scattered” during COVID restrictions?

Yes,
this is possible during restrictions. Carol and I have begun to train small groups in this process. Three congregations are engaged, currently with 12 such groups. What would be the impact of 100 disciple-making groups in Ridge-Meadows? What if 1000 small groups were deepening disciples in love and obedience, with the capacity to incorporate seekers in the coming harvest?

If you are interested in a 90 minute “taster” experience on zoom on an upcoming Monday or Wednesday evening (7:30 pm) please
connect for a zoom link or to chat.

Remarkable times call for fresh approaches, flowing from prayerful hearts! Please pray about this opportunity.
