A "tipping" point for Europe
2020 should be remembered for some decades to come... For all European stakeholders involved in R&I, 2020 also corresponds to the end of a seven-year period. Numerous challenges have paced the EU 8th Multi-Annual Financial Progamme: the Brexit, a strong awareness of the ecological crisis or most recently this unprecedented health crisis. The new EU Research and Innovation programme, whose budget is still uncertain to date, should allow dozens of breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market. In the meantime, the European Union has setup new tools to address the huge challenges to come: the Green Deal and the European Recovery Plan.
In parallel, Cap Digital has also faced many challenges, changes and successes over the last 7 years. With more than 40 funded EU projects since its creation, it has shown an increasing ambition to grow at the European level - under the impetus of its pro-European governing board - in order to offer more funding, networking and testing opportunities to its members. As an active member in 2 EIT KICs (Health & Digital) and NGI National Contact Point since 2017, Cap Digital has extended its network of partners to better inform and support its community. With flagship EU projects such as AI4Cities, DigiCirc, EIT Health Catapult and soon SUMITY, Cap Digital is definitely looking at the future in order to accelerate the transition to sustainable and responsible innovation.
