Made for Change: Stories of Flexibility and Resilience in the Face of Change
We've always believed in adapting to the needs of those we serve - and this year has given us plenty of opportunity to put that value into practice. We recently asked some of our staff, volunteers, and church partners to share how they've been innovating in the midst of change. Hear their stories on Facebook and Instagram (new videos posted on Mondays!).

Parenting Group Helps Families Navigate Remote Learning
For many families who’ve resettled in the U.S., education is a top priority. Our clients navigate language and cultural barriers as their children acclimate to school, and remote learning has caused even greater stress on families. To help parents help their kids, our Health & Wellness Program has started a virtual parenting support group. Through the group, our staff assess each family’s needs, how familiar parents are with the school website, what they know about online safety, stress management skills, and how they can provide an environment for learning in their home. As educators go above and beyond to meet student needs, we’re able to step in to bridge the gap that sometimes remains between parents and teachers. In fact, parents in the group have expressed feeling more connected with teachers than ever as they work together to help their students learn.

Equipping the Community to Respond to Trafficking
Our Asheboro Freedom Team recently visited local gas stations to distribute information about human trafficking, including the National Human Trafficking Hotline number. The majority of stations welcomed the placement of materials, which included bilingual stickers on bathroom mirrors and plastic cards to help staff respond to potential trafficking situations. The team plans to follow-up with each station in six months, and they hope that the materials will help bring freedom to those in need.

Anti-Trafficking Update: Guilford Minor Trafficking Response Team
Our Anti-Human Trafficking Program is working alongside key partners in the fight to end trafficking through a new, multi-disciplinary team: The Guilford Minor Trafficking Response Team. A part of our ongoing work to address vulnerabilities of youth to human trafficking in the Triad, this partnership will enhance our community's ability to respond to the unique risks faced by runaway youth. The team will help create greater awareness of the realities of runaway youth - a population too often overlooked and unseen - and increase accountability for traffickers and buyers who exploit youth. Through the hard work of this new team, vulnerable youth will be made visible and and have a better chance at a brighter future.

As the U.S. Re-Opens to Refugees, is the Church Ready?
Refugee resettlement is expected to increase dramatically in the coming months. After years of decreased resettlement and reductions in infrastructure, Matt Soerens shares how the Church has a tremendous opportunity to come alongside organizations like World Relief and demonstrate Christ-like love by helping us welcome our newest neighbors. - Special Invitation from our Director -
The current administration set the refugee cap at an all-time low of 15,000 for this next year.  The Biden administration has pledged to raise that ceiling to 125,000 when they take office in January.  What will this means for World Relief and refugee resettlement in the Triad? How have the last four years affected the US Refugee Resettlement Program and what does its future look like?  We'd like to invite you to a town hall with our Executive Director, Rob Cassell, to discuss what the election means for our office and the community moving forward. Please join us Monday, November 30th at 7:00 pm.

We're made for change.

As we anticipate increased refugee arrivals and the continued expansion of our services to refugees, immigrants, and survivors of trafficking in the Triad, we'd like to invite you to join us with a financial gift. Will you help us raise our Year End goal of $35,000?

What can your gift do?
  • $25 can assist refugee families with transportation to vital health appointments
  • $50 can offer reduced-cost consultations for immigrants applying for Green Cards and Citizenship
  • $75 can provide free, culturally competent and trauma informed therapy services to trafficking survivors and immigrants
  • $100 can connect one of our immigrant neighbors with a conversation partner volunteer to build skills and confidence in English
  • $125 can provide a survivor of trafficking with free tattoo cover-up
  • $250 can equip newly arrived refugees with technology to connect virtually with World Relief and community resources
We are excited for what this next year will bring, but we never do this work alone. It takes a community of welcome and support to build thriving lives together.

We're excited to introduce a NEW volunteer opportunity!
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT VOLUNTEER

Engage your community - whether small groups, family members, friends, or coworkers - in virtual and physical spaces to achieve at least one of three goals: Educate, Advocate, Donate

Community Engagement Volunteers (CEV) do not need to complete the full volunteer onboarding process and can start volunteering right away! We'll provide you with guidance and tools to unite your community in learning about and supporting your immigrant, refugee, and trafficking survivor neighbors, all while maintaining social distance and keeping the Triad healthy.

To learn more about becoming a CEV, click the button below. We'll reach out to you with information about specific opportunities.

Community Engagement Volunteer
Have you logged your volunteer hours?
It's more important than ever to log the hours you've served. Your hours help us raise a cash match required by certain grants, as well as advocate for even more opportunities to bring our community together and empower others. By logging your hours, you're helping us ensure that we can serve more people in more ways. Thank you!

World Relief has created a list of companies committed to serving those in vulnerable situations and changing lives in our local communities and across the globe - including one right here in the Triad! When you purchase a gift from the guide this holiday season, you'll support the work of World Relief and invest in small businesses across the U.S. Get the gift guide here >>

A great way to partner with WR Triad is by praying with and for us! Will you join us in continuing to pray for our community in these ways?
  • For peace, comfort, and a sense of connection for our clients, staff, and community as we navigate shorter days, holidays, and continued separation
  • Praise for upcoming family reunifications as we anticipate an increase in refugee arrivals
  • For parents, students, and teachers as they continue to navigate remote learning
  • For creativity, wisdom, and endurance among our staff, church partners, and our welcoming community as we both continue to serve and prepare for an increase in clients and new neighbors
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." - Hebrews 10:23
The Power of Your Voice
Engaging on Immigration

Sometimes, the most impactful form of advocacy can be helping our friends, families, and neighbors learn more about the issues we care deeply about. The Evangelical Immigration Table has biblically-based resources to help you engage those around you in Christ-centered conversations on immigration. Learn more >>
