NEW RELEASE: OUTCOME OF 2020’S LARGEST BIODIVERSITY CONFERENCE

As countries grapple with ripples and resurgences of the zoonotic COVID-19 virus, the global community is taking stock of its failures to prevent mass biodiversity loss and extinction and setting a better agenda for the coming decade.

GLF’s Biodiversity Digital Conference centered biodiversity in global, national, regional and community-level efforts, bringing together top experts from human, animal and ecological health to discuss ways to ‘build back better’. The event attracted 5,000 participants from 148 countries. The messages shared reached 35 million people through social media.

GLOBAL ORGANIZATIONS ISSUE COMPREHENSIVE SET OF RECOMMENDATIONS FOR RESTORING THE EARTH’S ECOSYSTEMS

GLF Biodiversity 2020 was the platform for the release of 15 white papers from global organizations, issuing a comprehensive set of recommendations for restoring the Earth’s ecosystems to reverse the climate and biodiversity crises. These will serve to advise negotiations and decision making at the 2021 UN Convention on Biological Diversity meeting and IUCN World Conservation Congress.
