Hello, Calvin here again.

Yes, 2021 is around the corner but how prepared are you to take advantage of the new year?

Feb is usually the month of employment and business opportunities, yet this year started off with a bang but then every career and business opportunity went pear-shaped in April of this year due to Covid-19.

You may ask yourself (like I do) will it happen again next year? Just as business is picking up....will we be back in lock-down as winter approaches and flu cases spike or will we get the possible vaccine by then.

Although Feb 2021 opportunities may be uncertain, one thing is for sure...

You have to be prepared. You have to have the skills that the market will want from you in 2021.

The market is moving towards more and more online shopping at an unbelievable rate due to the pandemic.....are you prepared for this?

In your career, you must have the necessary computer software skills as you will be required to manage the company's online shopping/marketing and social media.

Yes, the move is towards digital sales and more people will visit the company's online store instead of the physical store.

Black Friday and other big sales events will happen online as it is quicker to order a special item online that to go down to the store and find out that the special you wanted has been sold out quickly by someone who has bought it online.

This is just a simple example of the power of the interenet and we all have to be better prepared next year.

Working from home as well as at the company is fast becoming the norm and when you go to your new interview in Feb next year, would you have the tech skills and resources (fast 24hr internet @ home) to be the prefered candidate for the job?

And if you are a business owner.....are you better prepared to sell your products online as well?

I think we were all caught napping this year when the pandemic hit us and we had to quickly adjust to the realities of being highly skilled in all aspects of the internet for our career or business whether it is online selling, online meetings (Zoom), online marketing (Facebook, Mailchimp, Gumtree) or online communication (whatsapp).

Gone are the days of only being relient on a work desk at the office and being proficient in Microsoft products and email to conduct business.....let's be prepared and capitalize on new opportunities that will pop up as others get left behind as they cannot compete with the new online opportunities which is growing at an unbelievable pace.
