The work in Nicaragua is growing so fast that it's hard to keep up with all the new missionaries! In our recent newsletter, I had introduced Brandon Gerardo as our newest missionary for the Way Foundation. However, he is currently a candidate for a new missionary for the Edmond Church of Christ. The Way Foundation missionaries and the Edmond Church of Christ missionaries are partners in so many church projects in Nicaragua, it's sometimes hard to tell them apart.

The new missionary for the Way Foundation is actually Jose Urroz and his family. I've included a picture of them and a short introduction below.

Sorry for any confusion! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, even if it's six feet apart.

FALLING BACK TO NORMAL

This is fall has brought back a little normalcy for our students and missionaries in Nicaragua. We are thankful that not many people were affected physically by the virus. The economy did take a big hit. The government shut down travel and the movement of goods across the borders. This caused many of the markets to shut down and prices to increase. Despite all these struggles, the church in Nicaragua has been encouraged and turned to each other for strength and support.

In August, all public schools resumed their normal in-person classes. Students are required to wear masks while in class. As of today, we have not heard of any cases among the students.  Two of our sponsored students and who are also sisters, Jenny and Urania Lopez, are in their second and first years of nursing school respectively (pictured above).  During this pandemic, they have been kept very busy with informing the public of proper safety techniques and offering free medical services, all while continuing their classes online. Rather than being worn out, they have expressed their deepest appreciation for the opportunity they've been given to attend nursing school and look forward to helping their community for many years to come.

Jose Urroz and Family
This Fall, we welcome our newest member to the Way Foundation missionary team, Jose Urroz, and family. Jose is 36 years old and is married to Elsania. He and his wife have two children, Asly and Josue. They have been members of the Church for 8 years. Both Jose and Elsania studied at the Bible Institute of Central America for two years. After BICA, Jose served as coordinator for the evangelism program for BICA. They've had the opportunity to work with many churches throughout Nicaragua. Jose and his family will be joining the Way Foundation missionary team in Somoto. Please keep them in your prayers as they begin this new journey in serving the church and community in Somoto.

Thank You!

Finally, we thank you for all your continued support. Most of all we thank you for your prayers for all of our students, missionaries, and the Church in Nicaragua. During these trying times, the best thing we can do is put our hope in Christ and support each other as much as we can. Stay safe and God bless!

Blessings,

David Romero
