CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY-DEADLINE MONDAY
To help our neighbors provide a happier holiday for their children, Emmanuelites will again participate in the empty tomb Christmas Giveaway -- this year, by inviting parishioners to purchase new basketballs, footballs, and fashion dolls from
Emmanuel's Amazon wish list. Emmanuelites are usually very generous for this outreach, but gifts are coming in slowly so far. A reminder that for empty tomb to have enough time to prepare for the event, we need to order by November 23.
DIOCESAN HYMN SING
Bishop Martins, who got word of the fun we've been having singing online, has invited Emmanuel to host a hymn-singing event for the whole diocese, so join us on Tuesday, November 24th at 7 p.m. on
Zoom. Make a joyful noise (muted), enjoy beloved Thanksgiving and Advent tunes, and help bring Episcopalians together from all over Central and Southern Illinois.
2021 MISSION UPDATE
Your vestry’s goal, given the challenges we have all faced this past year, is simply to continue Doing What Love Requires in 2021 – to maintain our staff and ministries and only make budget adjustments for costs over which we truly have no control (e.g. health insurance). In 2020, 106 Emmanuel households set the bar for what we were all able to do together by pledging $365,813. To date, we are happy to have 7 new households pledging, but there are still several regular donors who have not set their 2021 giving goal. To date, 83 households have pledged a total of $338,415. Take a moment now, if you have not pledged for 2021, to visit the
GIVE tab on our website and let us know how you will play your part in funding God’s work here. You can also simply return the pledge card you received in the mail (we are happy to send an extra if you cannot find it.)
SCHEDULE NOVEMERB 20-29th
Mary is on vacation all Thanksgiving week, and Mother Beth and Marisa will be covering the church phones and email Monday through Wednesday. As usual, the church office is closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday. We thank you for your patience.
BISHOP ELECTION NEWS
Our Bishop begins his terminal sabbatical on February 1, and the Election Committee, including our own Bill Techau, has been hard at work. Read more about their steps towards a listening process here.
