Writer’s News
Poets House has announced it will suspend operations immediately and indefinitely as a result of budgetary issues caused by COVID-19. It is hoped the library may be able to reopen late next year. Lee Briccetti, the executive director of Poets House for over 30 years (set to retire in 2021), said, “We will use this time to reflect on the extraordinary history of Poets House and reevaluate the organization’s future trajectory, especially in light of the new times in which we now live. Poets House has been a central part of my life for the past 30 years. There is nothing quite like it in the literary realm, and we must do all we can to ensure that it remains alive and vibrant.” |

AWP asked: Would you rather be able to only read the first page of a book or the last?
Some of the answers we received:
@jennaglov: First. If I read the last page I won't have any idea what is going on and the story is boxed into a certain ending. If I read the first, then I get a starting point to imagine the entire story and take it wherever I want.
@stickpoet: Good question. Thinking about it I decided first. That would allow my imagination to think about where the story might go from there. The last page doesn't quite feed my imagination as well.
@DonnaDrawsU: Last
@shannantchapman: The First!
@angeliquetung: The first always.
Izabella Elkjær Dall Flynn: Last.
Denise Aileen DeVries: No!!!
