Werriwa eNewsletter

20 November 2020

Dear <<First Name>>

Welcome to the latest edition of the Werriwa eNewsletter.

Congratulations to all Year 12's for successfully completing your exams. I hope you enjoy your graduations and final assemblies in the coming weeks.

This year I am honoured to sponsor a prize at the 23rd Annual Liverpool Arts Society Exhibition. I had the privilege of getting a sneak peak earlier this week to pick the winner. As usual, the work is of a great standard and I encourage everyone to get along over the coming months to see all the works. The event will be held tomorrow at 11am live from the Casula Powerhouse Museum. You can find more details on the Exhibition below.

More restrictions have been eased across New South Wales including the opening of the Victorian border and increased attendance at weddings. Further details of the restrictions eased are listed below as well as a link to the full Public Health Order.

Have a good weekend, stay safe and keep well.

Kind Regards

Anne

Robodebt Scheme Disgrace

The Morrison Government is engulfed in scandal. From Sports Rorts, to the Leppington Triangle to the illegal Robodebt scheme, this is a Government with little regard for public accountability and taxpayer’s money.

The defective Robodebt system has caused unnecessary stress for some of our most vulnerable Australians resulting in anxiety, poverty and suicide. For years, the Morrison Government has been in denial about the scheme’s fairness and legality.

At the last minute, the Government made a pre-trial admission conceding it owes Robodebt victims their money back plus compensation. An admission that will cost taxpayers more than $1 billion.

The settlement, for approximately 400,000 class action members, is not only the costliest settlement in Australian history, but involves the most people of any settlement by any Australian Government.

16 Days of Action

Unions NSW are holding a webinar to launch their 16 Days of Action for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the new workplace resource Working From Home Isn’t Safe When Home Isn’t Safe: How to respond to family & domestic violence in home-based workplace.

For many people experiencing family violence, their workplace is the only safe haven. It is a space where arrangements can be safely made to leave family violence. Working from home has now made many workers more unsafe.

The webinar will be held on Wednesday 25 November at 11am.
