Independence and the Montessori Philosophy
for children aged 18 months to 12 years old. 

Join Halima Khurram and Leharne Fountain as they host an online philosophical discussion group, focusing on Independence at different ages and how it aligns to our Montessori Philosophy.  

From infancy, humans seem to be on a quest for independence. Independence goes hand in hand with responsibility and freedom. But how to balance your child’s desire for independence with his/her need for safety and limits through their life? 

To maintain the balance between independence and responsibility, we as adults need to foster a child’s respect for themselves and others in the learning environment, at home or other areas of life. The communication and relationship style we develop when our child is young will continue to inform our parenting for many years to come.

During the discussion we will all share our thoughts and ideas, and we’ll endeavour to answer any of your questions and leave you with a deeper level of understanding and practical strategies for supporting children throughout these years
