#IRemember best-of video
On 11 November, Remembrance Day, the Liberation Route Europe Foundation released the best-of video of the digital event #IRemember, held between 4 and 8 May 2020 as part of the Europe Remembers campaign.
#IRemember wanted to be an occasion for everyone to reflect on the history of WWII, its protagonists and the sacrifices made by the military and civilians, as well as for the younger generations to connect and have one-on-one conversations with those who lived the war first-hand. The conversations took place in the week of VE Day, the anniversary of the end of WWII in Europe, when – due to confinement – conventional commemorations and remembrance events could not take place.
A video summary of the best moments of #IRemember now makes these conversations more accessible: the 30-minute video combines the original, multi-lingual audio with full subtitles in Dutch, English, French, and German.

Europe Remembers on Tour!
in Germany and Poland
The last episodes of the year of Europe Remembers on Tour! have been very special. Our team visited Buchenwald concentration camp, Auschwitz concentration camp, the city of Krakow and the Mittelbau-Dora labour camp in a unique series dedicated to the Holocaust. The four videos are extremely poignant and inspire a deep reflection on WWII and its consequences.
In Buchenwald concentration camp, close to Weimar in Germany, Deputy Director Dr. Philippe Neumann-Thein took us the sites inside the camp and told us the story of the camp – how it was built by prisoners, how it was liberated and how, for thousands of people, the liberation came too late.
In Oświęcim, Poland, guide Renata Koszyk took us through Auschwitz 1 and Birkenau concentration camps – a truly moving experience that words fail to describe.

In the beautiful city of Krakow, we visited the impressive collection of the Home Army Museum, followed by a guided tour of the city Ghetto and world-famous Schindler's factory.
We ended our moving tour at Mittelbau-Dora. Between 1943 and 1945, about 60,000 people from all over Europe were deported to the camp and had to endure forced labour for the German armament industry, in murderous conditions. The camp was created around a series of underground tunnels leading to aircraft factories and fuel plants.

Noor Inayat Khan's story on Europe Remembers
The Europe Remembers portal is increasingly active in presenting a broad variety of perspectives and war experiences.

The one of Noor Inayat Khan is a peculiar experience of a woman that was part of the British Special Operations Executive (SOE). She was sent to France in 1943 to create contacts between the Allies and the French resistance, but was betrayed and ultimately sent to Dachau, never to come back.

Noor Inayat Khan’s is just one of the many personal stories that are worth being discovered on the Europe Remembers website.

Covid-19 Update
Many museums throughout Europe are currently closed following national regulations to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The Europe Remembers website continues to host temporary exhibitions and events, as well as general information about museums and WWII memorials, but we strongly encourage to check the requirements and entry restrictions on museums’ websites and social media outlets before planning a visit.
Fletcher Hotel Boschoord
As part of the partnership between Liberation Route Europe and Fletcher Hotels, we present you Fletcher Hotel Boschoord, situated in Oisterwijk, in the South of the Netherlands.

In the Brabant region of the Netherlands lays Oisterwijk, also known as the Green Pearl. Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Boschoord is situated in the green of Oisterwijk, surrounded by forest and fens and immersed in nature.

The hotel was appreciated even in the hardship of war times. During WWII, Hotel Boschoord was used as a convalescent home, hosting soldiers who needed to rest and recover. Because of the beautiful location, the convalescent home was a popular place for the soldiers who needed to recover.

Today, the Hotel has 64 rooms and 10 meeting rooms, but is especially loved for its surroundings and the landscapes. The hotel location makes it ideal for a stay during hiking and cycling trips, or just to enjoy the typical Brabant atmosphere.
