West End Unplugged - Vol. 2

YouTube Live Stream
Out of the Darkness, Into the Spotlight
In collaboration with Nimax and The Theatre Café, West End performer Hiba Elchikhe is thrilled to announce a brand-new musical theatre based web series: Out Of The Darkness, Into The Spotlight.

Bringing a little bit of glitter to the grey, this three-episode series hopes to not only entertain, but shine a light on the performers who are keeping the West End alive, even during lockdown.

Hiba, who is currently starring in the West End hit Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and who has created the series says “In a time of such uncertainty I am so excited to be able to bring together a spectacular group of freelance artists, that are representative of the UK and to showcase some special treats from the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie cast.”

Featuring a line up of stellar creatives, each episode shines a “spotlight” on something different: Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Musical Theatre and Christmas. Each episode will feature a different line-up of star performers, running at approximately 45 minutes and including a mixture of songs.

Hiring our Studios
We hire our two spaces, our first floor Studio and our Theatre Bar, in hourly slots with a current, special flat rate of £15 per hour + VAT.

The first floor Studio is pictured above.
It is perfect for socially distanced classes and has a capacity of 8. As you can see, a grid has been created so each attendee and the teacher has their own space.

The Theatre Bar is a multi-purpose space that can be used as either a Meeting room or another Studio,
For meetings, it has a capacity of 6 with an individual table and chair for each attendee that are spaced out evenly 2 metres apart.
For use as a studio, it is a carpeted floor with a capacity of 8.

In addition, both spaces are Covid safe and secure.
We are more than happy to show you the space you're interested in prior to you creating a provisional booking so you can ensure it's suitable and ask us any questions.

If you are interested in hiring either of our spaces when we reopen, please email us: blakehay@wsm-tc.gov.uk
Please note, we are currently only taking provisional bookings due to the ever-changing nature of the situation we find ourselves in. This makes it easier for us to alter and postpone bookings if necessary.

The Blakehay Theatre, Weston-super-Mare, 1850 - 2020

By John Crockford-Hawley

Local historian John Crockford-Hawley has completed a new limited edition book to add to his collection of many local historical books to help the Blakehay Theatre in Weston-super-Mare which is closed due to COVID-19.

The Blakehay Theatre is hoping to open as soon as it is possible, but in the meantime they are looking to use this money to buy equipment to bring theatre out of the building. So, for only £2.00 you can help, and have a piece of limited edition history in your hands. There is also an option to add a donation on top, if you wish and are able to.

The paperback, released last week, is on sale in the shop at our sister site Weston Museum in Burlington Street, Weston-super-Mare, open Thursday to Saturday from 12pm to 4pm.
Alternatively, you can purchase online where this book will be posted to you for a small fee or you can choose to click & collect from Weston Museum.
Alternatively, do contact our box office on blakehay@wsm-tc.gov.uk
