“I am grateful to be a woman.
I must have done something great in another life.”

... Maya Angelou

This is a wonderful time of year to celebrate what you have and reflect on the things you are most grateful for.  We are grateful for each of you and your involvement in our Branch.  It makes such a difference in our everyday efforts to focus on equity for women and girls.

In celebration, AAUW Longmont has planned a couple of fun events.  Everyone and their guests are encouraged to join us for the festivities at our Holiday Open House.  All you need to do is register online to get the Zoom link and don your ugliest Christmas sweater (if you have one) before joining us.  You can also support us by donating children's books or funds to the national AAUW Greatest Need fund.

To find out more about these ways to help us support each other and our community check out the details below.
Enter Our Ugly Sweater Contest and Vie for a Fabulous Prize

Take a photo wearing your sweater without showing your face.

Send the photo to Kathy Hall no later than December 4 to be in the running.  Entries can be sent via email or texted to 303-807-2574.

At the party, you'll have the opportunity to vote for your favorite ugly sweater and enjoy some sweater stories.
The winner of the poll will receive a fabulous gift basket, including plates and napkins for your own sweater party, some s-w-e-e-t appetizers, festive earrings, and ornaments.  The piece de resistance is a gift card for the purchase of a crazily delicious dessert from Nothing Bundt Cakes, a women-owned business in the Village at the Peaks in Longmont.
Donate to AAUW's Greatest Needs Fund up through December 15

Giving to the national Greatest Needs fund is a great way to ensure AAUW’s continued visibility, relevance, and sustainability. Your donation will be unrestricted and will allow it to be used where it is most needed, be it addressing Title IX concerns, partnering with employers, initiating new research, focusing on social justice movements or pivoting to other projects needing immediate attention.  Click on red title above for information about how your donation will be used.

Make a donation to the Greatest Needs fund up through December 15 and be eligible for chances in our Open House drawing for a $25 Cheese Importers gift card.  For each $6 donation, you will get one chance in the drawing.  For example, if you donate $20 you will receive 3 chances.

the Gift of Reading

The big green box on Kathy Hall's front porch, 502 Collyer St., is for children's books to be given to TLC Learning Center for children preschool through 5th grade.

Drop off new or nearly new books no later than December 8.  You can also order books using your AmazonSmile account and have them delivered directly to Kathy's house.
Support the TLC
Christmas Tree Festival

Our branch is helping get the Longmont community into the festive holiday mood with an annual tradition! Our Branch has donated two trees to the 39th Annual TLC Learning Center’s Christmas Tree Festival raffle to be held on December 12.  Our Spectacle of Snowmen tree will be on display at Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. at 373 Main St. through the date of the raffle. Our other tree, Santa’s on His Way, and all the trees being auctioned can be found on the festival’s virtual auction site which you can access by putting the QR code below in focus with your smartphone camera.  Raffle ticket sales will begin on Friday, November 27.

Several of our Branch members have gotten to know the folks at TLC and the struggles childcare providers are currently facing through their work with the Longmont Early Childhood Community Coalition.
You are encouraged to support this great local center by looking at the raffle site and buying some raffle tickets.  It's an easy way to support women and families with childcare needs.  And who knows, you might even be rewarded with a great holiday tree!
