Holyoke Rows is supporting Monti's March on Hunger for the Food Bank of Western Ma.

Join Holyoke Rows Board member Andy Fisk and wife Karen as they paddle the Connecticut River from Bondi's Island to Jones Ferry.

Fellow Holyoke Rowers,

I’m guessing you are aware of Monte’s (“Masked”) March for the Foodbank of Western MA.  No?  It’s a terrific event that raises a ton of money for the many great things the Food Bank does with its partners.  Monte started out 11 years ago pushing a shopping cart from Northampton to Greenfield and it has now grown into a big, successful, and quirky event.

This year it is being done virtually, remotely, differently.  We know all about dealing with that…

In the spirit of WRSI The River’s slogan of “Different is good…” I am going to do the march in a boat.  So I guess it isn’t technically a march, but you get the idea.  I’m very sure this is going to be the only group participating by boat.  And I’d love some company – from you!

I’m recruiting people to donate to the March and join me on the river next Monday.

So how is this going to work?

Donating to the March – I am supporting fellow Holyoker Neftali Duran who will be doing the entire march again this year.  His goal is to raise $11,000 as part of the overall goal of $365,000 for the event this year.  DONATE HERE.  Word is he’ll be doing this in a turkey suit, so I’m bringing out the shad suit in solidarity of ridiculous-ness.

Marching on the River - Monday, November 23rd at 7:00 am we will launch from Bondi’s Island launch in Agawam to correspond to the start of Monte’s 43-mile two day trek at Mason Square in Springfield.  He will end up in Greenfiield on Tuesday evening.

Am I asking you to paddle or row 43 miles to Greenfield?  Not this year!  We’ll paddle/row the 8 miles up to Jones Ferry to home base.

Please donate to help Neftali and Team Taco meet their goal AND let me know if you’d like to join me on the paddle.  Stephanie and I can work thru logistics as needed.

Here’s to a new Holyoke Rows tradition!

Best,

Andy
