December, 2020
Dear Church Family,
On behalf of the church staff I would like to wish all of you a very blessed Advent and Christmas!
In worship we have already started our Advent series, “Songs of Hope,” looking to a number of the Psalms to remind us of why we trust and hope in God’s goodness and salvation, even in challenging times. Don’t miss our special Christmas “Blues” worship service on Sunday, December 6. For the second year Eric has put this service together to acknowledge the special difficulties of this season and this year for many and look to God for comfort and a word of hope. We will still have our traditional candle-lighting service on Christmas Eve at 6pm; like our Sunday morning services, it will be live-streamed. If you watch from home, make sure to have your own candle so you can join along in lighting it with us at the right time!
We continue our staff search for a part-time youth director and a part-time children’s ministry director. It’s a challenging time to be looking, but we are receiving and reviewing applications and trust God to bring the right people at the right time.
Thank you to all who have given so generously in 2020 and who have responded to the “Moving Forward in 2021” stewardship/pledge effort. Though we are beginning the budgeting process for 2021, it is not too late to communicate your giving information to Lisa Trevisan at the church (by mail, e-mail finance@gspc.net, or leave a message for her at 704-266-0762 and she will return your call).
Remember that you can find our worship services, devotions, info on classes, and much more on the church website (gspc.net). You can watch the church service (live!) right on that site or find links to past services, devotions, class information, giving, newsletters, and more. If you ever have questions about technology, don't hesitate to reach out to me (robert@gspc.net or leave a message for me at 704-266-0762); I love to help people with it!
In these coming weeks I invite you to be selective with your time, to focus on what is really important, and to seek God as the center of this holiday. I hope you will experience the grace, peace, hope, and love that only God can bring. Finally, I hope that wherever you spend Christmas Day, gift giving, treasured memories, warm fellowship, and time together with loved ones will remind you of the great gifts God has given us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
In Christian love,
Robert
