An Update on the Plunkett Lake Drawdown
As you know, the parts needed to repair the Gate Valve mechanism have been delayed until shortly after Thanksgiving. With help from the Firemen's Association, the Town installed a siphon on the batter boards (drawdown plan b). The siphon worked fine for a few days, but air crept into the siphon and eventually shut it off. And, with more rain than we've seen all summer, we have water spilling over the batter boards. This week we rented an industrial pump (drawdown plan c), which the Highway Department Crew will keep running 24/7 for the next several days to get the water down to the appropriate winter level.
An Update on the Plunkett Algae Testing
The Board of Health reports receiving the first of the two follow-up test results since the Public Health Advisory on October 22, 20202. You may view the results here. The concentration has dropped significantly. Additional testing was scheduled for today. If today's set of results remain low, the advisory will be lifted.

Did you know that Santa is receiving mail in Hinsdale?
Santa's special mailbox is located outside the Police Station, to the right of the lower entrance of the building. Your letters to Santa may be dropped in Santa's mailbox beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving. Children from all towns are welcome to leave a letter! Because of the North Pole's great distance, be sure to drop all letters into Santa's mailbox by December 19th. No stamp is required, but the elves insist on a return address!
