Issue 29

Hello <<First Name>>,

So, what has been different for you? Is different better or worse or just different?

As we come to the end of our liturgical year we can look back at the many different ways we have expressed and lived our faith - yes different to what we are used to and expect but spiritual, enriching and life giving all the same.

Let us look forward with hopeful anticipation of a fruitful and fulfilling year of living our faith in whatever circumstances we find ourselves in. No matter how different.

Stay Connected with what matters. Pass this newsletter onto a friend (or stranger!) and encourage others to sign up here so they too can be connected.

WEEKEND LITURGY

Feast of Christ the King

The image of the king is a foundational metaphor in the Bible, which in ordinary usage suggests power and glory.
But even in the ancient biblical tradition, there are two significant modifications.
According to an Old Testament vision, a king is meant to be a shepherd to his people, a true shepherd who cares for and who knows and even loves his sheep.
According to a New Testament vision, Jesus our king rules paradoxically by loving service, humility and the gift of himself.
This example and teaching of Jesus have lost none of their power.
Can our prayer this weekend be: Wake us up, O God, and rouse us from the slumber of the everyday that we may recognise you in every moment and in every person, each day of our lives. Amen.

(adapted from reflections on the Gospel by Kieran O’Mahony OSA, www.tarsus.ie )
Tune in to the webcam before 11:30am Mass to hear the welcome.
The Scripture readings are available daily and for Sunday.

PASTORAL AREA NEWS

We all like to play – the young and young at heart.
Godly Play is an approach where children discover God through story and play.

Over the coming weeks, we will provide Godly play resources for use at home, each week leading us on a journey into the story of Christmas.
These resources are suited to children and may be a useful resource for those younger ones beginning to prepare for First Communion.
Watch this space for further information next week.
