GREENSBORO, NC (November, 2020) – On Friday, November 20, 2020, The Salvation Army of Greensboro will kick-off the 2020 Christmas Kettle Season. The Kettle Campaign will begin with a special ceremony at 12:30 PM at Greensboro’s original Salvation Army location at 520 Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27406, and continue until December 24, 2020. Mayor Nancy Vaughan will be in attendance to commemorate the event and reveal our first major kettle donation of the season.
Beginning in 1891, The Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign has been a fundamental piece to its strategy of Doing the Most Good®. This strategy continues today, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic, by offering numerous options for those in need when they need it the most.
Captain Matt Hedgren, Corps Officer for the Greensboro Command said, “This year, The Salvation Army is looking to rescue Christmas from the hands of the Coronavirus pandemic. Our desire is to meet the needs of all people in Greensboro and beyond, without discrimination, and to make Christmas a time for good. For any that can offer time to ring a bell, donate a canned good, or leave some spare change, The Salvation Army is here to continue to fight for good.”
During the campaign, Salvation Army kettles will be deployed throughout the Greater Greensboro area with new locations across downtown Greensboro. Donations can also be made on the Greensboro commands website at: www.salvationarmyorgreensboro.org.
