Dear Pitt families,

Please see the below message to Pitt students and read the most recent update from the COVID-19 Medical Response Office (CMRO) for more information on picking up your student(s) for break.

In particular, please note that family members should remain in their vehicle, when possible, if you are picking up students at the end of the term.  Everyone on campus, inside or outside University facilities, must comply with our health standards and guidelines and the commonwealth’s new orders, including wearing a face covering inside and outside and maintaining at least 6 feet of physical distance at all times.

As always, thank you for partnering with us to protect the health of our communities and families. Safe travels over the winter break!

Sincerely,

Kenyon R. Bonner, EdD
Vice Provost and Dean of Students

Dear Panthers,

This has been an unusual and challenging fall term for all of us—including me. We’re nearing the finish line, though, and I want to encourage you to finish strong!

Please take a few minutes to read the most recent update from the COVID-19 Medical Response Office (CMRO), which includes a link to Pennsylvania’s new travel order and Allegheny County’s recent advisory. In particular, and in alignment with our standards and guidelines, masks are now required by the commonwealth both indoors and outdoors if you are away from your home. In addition, if family members are picking you up for the break, they should remain in the vehicle, when possible, while on campus.

Finally, for off-campus students, if you are leaving the Pittsburgh area over the break, please pay special attention to these safety tips:

  • suspend USPS mail delivery
  • avoid package deliveries while absent
  • secure bicycles indoors
  • lock your doors and windows
  • remove air conditioners from windows
  • program lights to turn on and off at random
  • avoid publicizing your absence on social media
  • notify your landlord of the dates you will be away
  • ask a trusted neighbor or landlord to keep an eye on your house or apartment while you are away

It continues to be my honor to serve as your Dean of Students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office (deanofstudents@pitt.edu). Safe travels over break!

Sincerely,

Kenyon R. Bonner, EdD
Vice Provost and Dean of Students
