If you're a new subscriber, welcome! Some of you may have found me through my article,"Five Ways My Cozy Cottage Widened My World," on the No Sidebar website. Or, if some other internet rabbit hole led you to me, I'm glad you're here!
After the Thanksgiving meal, I returned to my kitchen to face the roasting pan left on the counter.
There were the turkey bones, lying in a heap, in a coagulated puddle of drippings and shriveled onions. It hardly resembled the fabulous bird we'd pulled out of the oven an hour before. My husband outdid himself this year by massaging his secret blend of herbs and spices into the turkey and roasting it to perfection. We ate until our guts ached.
Every so often I have days when I feel like those poor turkey bones—picked over, passed over, and shriveled up.
That poor pile of bones … the next logical step would be to dump them in the trash bin.
Instead, those tired bones went right into my pressure cooker. I added some colorful vegetables and some herbs, and after a while, those bones were transformed to beautiful golden broth, which will nourish my family for at least a few more meals as soup or gravy.
What I need you to know is that no matter how depleted you're feeling, you still have so much more to offer! It doesn't have to be flashy or fancy. Keep it simple and good.
xoxo,
Carol
