December E-Update

Dear STPC Members,

As far as 2020 goes, whew! I'm looking forward to the new year, how about you?!

I hope this finds you healthy physically and mentally as we push through the end of a challenging 2020. It is good news that indoor tennis venues have reopened their doors on December 19, but there are some changes compared to when the venues were open four weeks ago. The specific updates that impact our play are

Masks must be worn at all times upon entering the club and on the tennis courts while playing
Players must maintain a physical distance of 12 feet or more (as much as is practical) when on the court

The latest guidelines also require the venues to be at no more than 25% capacity, 100 members max. We are working with the venues to gain an understanding how this might impact the availability of courts.

Given these restrictions, we are hoping that Group Play and Pop-Ups will be able to resume on schedule, but Drills have been cancelled until further notice and plans for the new Indoor Mixed Doubles league are on hold as well. Expect to receive a general interest survey concerning the new league in the next few weeks.

Nathaniel Fuller, long-time STPC member and even longer-time Guthrie Theater actor, is once again playing Ebenezer Scrooge in a virtual adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." Check out production details, including how to purchase tickets!.

The 2021 STPC Pop-Up Tennis season will begin January 11. Watch for the Ticketbud invitations. Meet new players and become more engaged in STPC.

If you are a 3.0 or 3.5 level player and are not receiving the Pop-Up notices, check your spam folder or check your STPC membership renewal date to make sure you are current.

Board of Directors Openings!

Want to help the club improve and grow? Apply to be a member of the Board of Directors, or nominate someone else. The Board currently consists of 12 members, but 2 will have completed their service on March 31, 2021, and the Board will then have openings for their replacements.

It's a hard-working and convivial group, that meets once a month (currently via Zoom), and supports all the various aspects of the club: Group Play, Drills, Pop-Ups, Socials, Team Tennis, the Jack Dow, the Tennis Times newsletter, the monthly eUpdate, the STPC Website, and the member database.

Any interested member is invited to submit an application, or nominate someone else, whatever may be his/her focus in supporting the club. Of special interest is someone to help plan and organize club Social events, and anyone with computer skills, e.g. facility with QuickBooks.
