Thank you for reading my newsletter about happenings in West Dupont and 2B02. A few updates:
GoPuff Coming to 1415 22nd St
After years of vacancy, offices and a storage/distribution center for GoPuff are coming to 1415 22nd St NW. The company is essentially a convenience store that is only for delivery and operates across the country. There is no ANC action here, but you may see some interior construction at the site soon.
Assets Indefinitely Closed
In the Washington City Paper today, Tom Sherwood reported the indefinite closure of Assets at Connecticut and Florida due to repeated violations of rules regarding Covid-19 safety. While it's never good to have an indefinite closure, I am glad the City, and the Alcohol Beverage Regulatory Administration in particular, are enforcing public health emergency measures and I am further disappointed in the establishment's disregard for safety.
ANC Updates
We have an unusually short ANC agenda this month without any scheduled presentations and just two regulatory agenda items - a liquor license application in Club Central and a historic landmarking application focused on LGBTQ history for Annie's Paramount Steakhouse on 17th Street.
Starting in January we will have a mostly new commission with Commissioner Silverstein and myself as the only current commissioners remaining. I am deeply grateful for the friendship and service of retiring commissioners Matthew Sampson, Aaron Landry, Randy Downs, Kari Cunningham, and Beverly Schwartz. It has been an honor to serve with these fantastic leaders who love our Dupont Circle neighborhood dearly -- serving on ANC 2B won't be the same without them. And while I will miss them, I am looking forward to working with the seven new commissioners.
