Our Shared Mission:

To mobilize prayer in the Ridge-Meadows Body of Christ for revival of the church, the awakening of our city to the Gospel, and the manifest advance of the mission of God’s Kingdom.

Celebrating Christmas! (Yes, during covid)

Yes, we face restrictions. Yes, our city has lonely people. Yes, it will be “different”. But how will we celebrate a covid-restricted Christmas?

With joy!
Let’s worship joyfully ourselves! Watching
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5mdybeyLVc will prepare our hearts.
Let’s go caroling! Dec 23-35, in our respective bubbles, let’s print this caroling sheet, set aside our shyness and, even in two’s or three’s, let's stroll up our street and sing Joy to the World and Hark the Herald Angels Sing out of full hearts of joy!

With earnest prayer!
Let’s go prayer walking! Let’s prayer walk our own street and another, our mall, look people in the eye and say Merry Christmas (yes, in Starbucks!) and smile so widely, even if we’re wearing a mask, that people can see the joy of Christ in our eyes!
Let’s pray for anointed Christmas Eve services on-line with people all through the city logging-on, people who haven’t been in church for years or ever, people from other cities and nations; eager for hope, eager for joy, eager for the Light of Life (John 8:12) in their hearts!

With compassion!
Let’s reach out to the lonely – who do you know on your street or in your apartment block who needs a creative personal touch in the name of Jesus and his love?
Let’s offer Christ to our neighbors’ deepest need. Offer a prayer, hope (efc link), Christ himself.
Yes, Christmas Caroling!

Dear Pastors, ministry and prayer leaders,

Christmas lockdown: Normally we anticipate inviting the community to special Christmas services ,which often crown the church year. This year what if we went to the community instead?

Christmas caroling: What if our people instead went out in our “bubbles” to sing Christmas carols on the street where we live (perhaps also to mall parking lots) lifting up the joy of Christmas?

What if there were 100 groups of 2 to 4 person 'bubbles' scattered throughout the city Dec 23-25? Might not we be able to let the light of Christ shine even during lockdown?

We could pray as we walked between homes (prayer-walking our neighborhoods, seeking the Lord’s blessing, light and encouragement to the spiritually oppressed). We could offer a simple Gospel message such as "Finding the Hope" (
www.ehc.ca) or simply a smile.

Organization is minimal. Pastors can cast the vision and ensure awareness of protocol-of-the-day. Worst-case-scenario might be driving slowing through quiet neighborhoods with windows rolled down and hearts lifted high!

Please pray about the possibility with your church or ministry group. Share the idea with your "bubble." Let’s lift up our hearts and praise the Lord this Christmas!
In Christ,
Murray Moerman
