Happy Holidays from The Parks!
This year, we’re not able to gather in person for our Holiday Tree & Menorah Lighting — so we created a short video to share some end-of-year cheer. It was a challenging year, but we were still able to support small businesses, continue construction on The Brooks and The Vale, welcome new senior and veteran residents to Abrams Hall, and hold our popular farmers market.

The Brooks condominiums feature engineered hardwood floors, Shaker style cabinets, Kohler fixtures, Bosch appliances, and stylish interior design. Now through the end of the year, The Brooks is offering a $10,000 credit toward closing costs. Contact the sales team for a tour appointment and more details.

Thanksgiving Meal Deliveries for Seniors & Veterans
The development team at The Parks at Walter Reed delivered Thanksgiving meals to residents at Abrams Hall on the Wednesday before the holiday. Abrams Hall is home to more than 150 affordable apartments for seniors and veterans. We celebrate these residents in our community, wishing them a happy holiday season.

Thanks to Our Partners at The Parks
These community partners at The Parks at Walter Reed are doing amazing work in our city and on our campus. Take a minute to follow and support these organizations!

> HELP USA and Jaydot work together to provide housing for formerly homeless veterans in Abrams Hall.
> Edgewood Management manages affordable senior housing for our residents, also in Abrams Hall.
> Housing Up works to develop affordable housing and support services to families in DC; their offices are at The Parks.
> So Others Might Eat is a community-based organization that helps the poor and homeless in DC. SOME is building Karin House, an affordable housing facility for seniors, in an existing building at The Parks.
> Children's National Hospital: Thank you to the workers on the front lines of the pandemic! Children's is supporting children throughout the DC region, and also building a new research facility and comprehensive medical care facility at The Parks campus — opening in 2021.
> DMPED: In collaboration with other DC agencies, DMPED is the public partner of The Parks for the benefit of all Washingtonians.
> FRESHFARM: Through a partnership with FreshFarm, we provided 720 bags of fresh produce to 144 residents this fall.
> We’re excited to welcome Howard University to the campus; next year they’ll be in the design phase for their new nursing school facilities planned for the site.

Children's National Facility Opens this Winter
The Children’s National Research & Innovation Campus will be opening the first phase of their new facilities at The Parks later this winter. The first 250,000 SF will be home to over 600 full-time employees. Children’s is also partnering with Virginia Tech and JLABS, Johnson & Johnson’s life sciences incubator, to offer research space at the new facility.

Playground & Dog Park Construction
This winter, construction will begin on a 10,000 SF dog park and a large playground near the Main Drive entrance, nestled between historic trees immediately to the north of the Main Drive/Georgia Avenue gate. Both are scheduled to open in April 2020.

Makeover at the Gate
Main Drive, the meandering thoroughfare that runs from Georgia Avenue to 16th Street NW, is still under construction immediately inside the Georgia Avenue gate. The guard house and old bus stop have been demolished. The construction will create a more beautiful and accessible entrance for pedestrians and vehicles, with on-street parking, widened sidewalks, lighting, and a multi-use path.

Arts Park Update
The development team is restoring the areas surrounding the Arts Park buildings and plaza, including the auto shop and the firehouse. Exterior improvements and landscaping will be completed in second quarter 2021.
