BYLAWS REVISION PROPOSAL RE: MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES, DEC 9, 2020

CURRENT BYLAWS REGARDING MEMBERSHIP:

ARTICLE I; DUES AND FORFEITURE OF MEMBERSHIP; SECTION 1.

Annual dues for membership in the Chamber of Commerce, which may be paid annually, shall be in ten (10) categories:

1) INDIVIDUAL PROPRIETOR 1-3 EMPLOYEES: Any business, firm, corporation or profit making commerce venture that employs the equivalent of one (1) to three (3) full-time persons...

... (the remaining membership categories indicate "Same as above membership category except" with an increased employee count)

8) RETIRED INDIVIDUALS OR ELECTED OFFICIALS:
9) CHURCH OR CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS:

The Chamber membership application requests the number of employees for a business applying or whether the individual is retired, elected, or church/civic.

In vetting an individual who was nominated, it was discovered she joined as just an individual, not a business, retired person, elected official, or church/civic organization. That category does not exist. Therefore, the following addition is proposed to enable individuals who do not operate a business to join and participate in the Chamber.

PROPOSED REVISION:

Add the following to Article IV, Section 1 of the bylaws:

10) ASSOCIATE:  Any individual not qualified for any other category of membership. Associate members may attend meetings, serve on committees, and participate in all events of the Chamber; however, these members may not hold an office on the Chamber board.
