Inaugural Chrysalis Music Film...
When the ground looked shaky for an End of Year concert, we decided to make a music film. Last Tuesday's Music Film screening was a memorable occasion, full of joy and talent, and many tears of gratitude... If you missed it, please click the video link above - you are sure not to regret taking the time!
The resounding comments to be heard afterwards included how magic it was to see the footage of the school, the valley, the rainforest and the ocean all from the air like that. To be reminded of what a beautiful place we live, work and learn in. The students shone, held and nurtured by a dedicated team of tutors!
Congratulations to everyone involved, particularly the Music Faculty, inspiringly led by Kym, and no end of thanks to the magnificent Paul Ryan for his hours of tireless commitment to bring all the footage, recording and editing together into the masterpiece that it is. The film captures beautifully the vision for music within Chrysalis. The program of expanded music tuition is seeing students engaged in opportunities across a broad musical range, much to the delight of the appreciative students and film viewers alike.
This film celebrates the music we make at Chrysalis and some of the profoundly beautiful landscapes of this Gumbaynggirr Country we call home.
Moving classrooms is a herculean effort...
At this time of year, the children will be bringing home all of their class work and classes slowly descend down the hill of our beautiful Thora campus. It begins with the Class 8s moving out of their room to make way for the Class 7s and so it continues until all classes are settled into their new rooms ready for next year.
The culmination in all this is the much-revered Going Up Ceremony held today for the River Song students going into Class 1 next year. It is always a poignant ceremony and with this year's Class 8 co-teacher also being next year's Class 1 teacher, Soli, it added an extra dimension! A beautiful moment to see Sean and Soli bidding their Class 8 students and each other farewell, and simultaneously welcoming the Kindergarten students to the "big" school.
Going Up Ceremony...
This morning Gail shared a story about a journey to the rainbow bridge to the River Song students, and the handing over of a special group of star children to the one who will care and look after them for the next part of their journey. The Class 8 who are in their final year at Chrysalis brought a handmade gift, made on their last camp, for each child who is going up to Class 1 in 2021, whilst the River Song students gifted the older students a gift as a gesture of goodbye.
The Class 8 students and staff formed an arch outside of River Song for the children led by Gail as they made their way down to the bottom of the path where Soli was awaiting them to take them up to their new Class 1 room.
Now, as they stand on the threshold of Class 1, the children are very much looking forward to what is ahead. Please see the photos here.
