Merry Christmas

We wish our Ignatian community much happiness for the festive season. May your Christmas be filled with peace and love and may the New Year be filled with many special moments.
We look forward to sharing more stories with you in 2021.

Academic Achievements 2020

Saint Ignatius’ College congratulates the Class of 2020 on their outstanding academic achievements. This year our seniors were particularly resilient in coping with all manner of challenges which were not anticipated when the year commenced. Under unprecedented circumstances our students strived for their personal best, and have become fine examples of young men and women in our Ignatian tradition.

Upcoming Milestones

  • 20 May 2021 is the 500th anniversary of Ignatius’ injury at the Siege of Pamplona and the begining of the Ignatian Year - Click HERE for more information

  • 12 March 2022 is the 400th anniversary of the canonisation of St Ignatius with St Francis Xavier

Gifts for Change

Many families of students at Xavier Jesuit School in Cambodia fell into deeper levels of poverty and hunger, as casual employment opportunities disappeared with the restrictions of COVID-19. However, after six months of school closure the students eagerly ride great distances back to school in rain, hail or shine.

This Christmas, you can provide a child with access to a quality education by purchasing a bicycle for them from Jesuit Mission’s Gifts for Change program. At Jesuit Mission, a Gift for Change allows you to replace a traditional present with the gift of nourishment, independence, education and empowerment.

New Colombo Plan Scholar

Congratulations to Old Ignatian, Stephan Robin (Class of 2016) who is one of the scholarship recipients of the New Colombo Plan, an initiative which helps to build long-term ties between Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.
“It’s a terrific opportunity to study at a top global university, learn about their cutting-edge physics research, and develop a stronger understanding of the political dynamics of a region increasingly coming under international focus. Most of all, I am personally really excited to spend some time living in such a vibrant and dynamic city with a rich multicultural tradition.” - Stephan Robin

Fr Eka Back in Adelaide

Eka Tanaya SJ, who worked at Saint Ignatius' College in 2015 and 2016, was recently ordained a priest. His ordination which had been delayed due to COVID, was a simple yet profound occasion, with only 20 people in attendance.
Eka returned from studies in Boston USA earlier this year to work at the Richmond Parish in Melbourne. We pray for his future priestly ministry and look forward to welcoming Father Eka to Adelaide where he has been assigned to the Norwood Parish for 2021.
