God willing, on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 6 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Mark J. Lawrence will ordain the Rev. Thomas J. Hample to the priesthood at The Cathedral of St. Luke & St. Paul in Charleston.  Registration is required as seating is limited. Four ordinations
In the last three weeks we have celebrated four ordinations to the priesthood. Congratulations to (shown above, clockwise from top left: The Rev. Chip Bateson (Resurrection Anglican, Ambridge, PA), The Rev. Jeff Jacobs (St. Paul's, Summerville), The Rev. Zach Miller (St. Helena's, Beaufort) and The Rev. Bill Clarkson (Holy Apostles, Barnwell). The Habersham worshiping community first took shape in response to a simple social media post. Five of us had been meeting regularly for lunch and praying for God to show us how to express His love in our community. We were made aware of a beloved member of the neighborhood who was scheduled for a significant surgery. Feeling led by the Holy Spirit, we posted an invitation on the online app Nextdoor for the neighborhood to join us the following morning to pray for this individual at the time of her surgery.

Each year at this time, the clergy and other leaders of the Diocese are invited to provide suggestions to the Nominating Committee for those positions to be filled at the upcoming Diocesan Convention, which, this year, is scheduled for  March 12-13, 2021. We hope you will give prayerful consideration to those God may be calling to serve the Diocese.

To help in your discernment, before you submit a suggested nominee, we ask you to read the attached letter from the Nominating Committee Chairman, the Rev. Karl Burns; read through the list of positions to be filled (along with their descriptions); view the list of who is currently or has recently served then submit your nomination using the online form, by the deadline of December 10. To help in preparation of your nominee’s bio, view examples from last year’s nominations report.

Prayer Desk Available


Christ Church, Mt. Pleasant, has a prayer bench (1906) they would like to pass along to a new home. The new owner would need to pick it up. The brass and wood structure is very heavy. If you’re interested, contact Howard Harder, Parish Administrator at (843) 884-9090.

You Can Go to the PGA Championship....


St. Christopher has four “Wanamaker Club” tickets for the 2021 PGA Championship to be hosted on Kiawah Island.  These four premier ticket packages will be paired with the use of the Historic Bishop’s Cottage and offered in a drawing for contributions of $1000.  The value of this package is $10,000.  The drawing will be held end of year, and will not be offered to any more than 100 entries.  Learn more

Advent Concert, December 11, St. Michael's Church, Charleston
St. Michael's, Charleston, presents "The Angels Sing," a choral service for Advent and Christmas, on Friday, December 11, at 7:30 pm in the church. Professional singers from across Charleston join together under the direction of St. Michael's Director of Music, Dr. Chris Keenan, to perform a wide variety of music for the season, ranging from The Renaissance to the 21st century. Seating will be limited, and masks will be required for attendance. The event will also be live-streamed. Learn more.

David GreenThis past November David Green was farewelled as the Director of Environmental Education at St. Christopher, along with his wife Linda, with a gathering of the Student Ministry Staff. David leaves St. Christopher to assume new responsibilities as the Park Director of the Richfield Heritage Preserve in Richfield, Ohio.  Laurinda Rapp, Assistant Director of Environmental Education, has assumed responsibilities as the Acting Director.





The Rev. Elizabeth BumpasPlease keep the family and loved ones of the Rev. Elizabeth Bumpas, who serves as a priest at Saint James, James Island, in your prayers. Elizabeth’s father, William Wallace “Coach Wally” Bumpas, 84 died of complications resulting from COVID-19 on December 6, 2020. Read the obituary. 







The Rev. Dan FarleyAfter taking a year off to recover from health issues the Rev. Dan Farley has returned to serving with limited duties as a deacon at Church of the Good Shepherd in Charleston. In speaking about his return, Deacon Dan said, “My wife and I have missed our Good Shepherd family, but the year away was needed for my health. Both Fr. Will and I are looking forward to ministering together."

In our last e-news we presented a Gen Z video featuring former Youth Commission member Jolie Crunelle. We incorrectly identified her as being a member of the Church of the Cross, Bluffton. She is a member of the Church of the Holy Cross Sullivan’s Island and Daniel Island.
