Greetings NCC Family!

Due to COVID and the fact that Christmas Eve is close, we would encourage you to let us know if you can and will be attending the Christmas Eve Service.  Choose a time and let us know your plans to attend.

REMINDER TO RETURN CHRISTMAS GIFTS
Sunday, December 13th is the deadline for returning wrapped gifts with the tag attached to the package. But if necessary, you can drop the package at the church office on Monday, December 14th.

If in your gift buying, you ended up with more than one package for a tag, put a sticky note on the package with tag information on it.  The tag info helps us know which family gets the gift and which child.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
What is it that keeps you from finding inner peace?  Obviously, we will never find a time when we are free from outward conflict, but the Lord has promised us his peace that passes understanding.  When the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our lives, he gives us that kind of peace.  William Barclay wrote in his commentary series about that very promise, “The Holy Spirit allows a man to pass the breaking point in life without breaking.”  What a promise!  What a presence!

Are you fearful?  Are you a worrier?  Those two problematic first cousins easily destroy our inner peace.  I think it is safe to say that we will never find that promised peace if fear and worry dominate our lives.  There is not enough room for all three, so make a choice which one you want to fill your life.  God will not force his peace on us – we must choose to surrender our control to him.  When we make him Lord of our lives, fear and worry will move out and his peace will move in.

Are you holding onto bitter resentments?  Carrying a grudge is hard work, folks.  We must learn to forgive as the Lord has forgiven us.  When we forgive, the real blessing is for us.  Forgiveness is more for us than it is for the offender.  Some offenders don’t even know they have offended us.  Some could care less whether you forgive them or not. We forgive because it frees our spirit; when we forgive that pent up bitterness and resentment begins to fade away.  It is then that the Prince of Peace can give us what he promised.  You’ll find your peace in him!
