12 New Mental Health Services across Cwm Taf Morgannwg!

12 new Mental Health projects have been announced as part of the recent Cwm Taf Morgannwg Covid response grant.

A Space for Us

Valleys Kids and partners New Horizons and Eye-to-Eye will be working with children and young people and their families from RCT to develop person centred support for those who are facing increased challenges.

Art Across the Generations

Artis Community have developed a number of projects to allow access to arts to help aid mental wellbeing.  These include; Crafty Cuppa (open access), Talk + Walk the Art (open access), Intergenerational Skills Share (open access 11yrs +) and Our Place Outdoors (closed group).

Community Crisis Support

MHM Wales have launched a new crisis support service in Bridgend that provides befriending and support to help improve mental health.

CTM Self-Harm Project

New Horizons will be launching their new self-harm project with partners, MHM Wales, Eye-to-Eye and Samaritans where they will be offering; peer support sessions, recovery college courses, counselling and awareness raising workshops.

Eating Disorder Support

Working in partnership with the Specialist Eating Disorders Team, MHM Wales will be delivering online staffed Eating Disorder Peer Support Groups across Cwm Taf Morgannwg.

Cancer support charity, Ray of Light, are expanding their Just Ask project which provides emotional and practical support to families supporting someone with cancer across Cwm Taf Morgannwg.

Mental Health Advocacy - Non Statutory

MHM Wales have launched a new advocacy service in Bridgend to help those facing difficulties to understand thier options and rights.

Mental Health Support Hub

CTM Mind along with partners, Valleys Steps, Age Connects Morgannwg and Citizens Advice RCT have launched a pilot Support Hub which will act as a Single Point of Access to support people to find appropriate mental health services across Cwm Taf Morgannwg.

Purple Shoots - self reliant Groups

Purple Shoots will be working with Cynon Taff Housing Association to deliver a series of workshops to residents to improve skills and confidence with the view to forming a self reliant group.

Seize The Day

Head 4 Arts has teamed up with The Parent Network to encourage families across Merthyr Tydfil to participate in art based activities to improve their wellbeing by delivering online activities and delivery activity packs.

Spring Forward!

In the New Year Tanio will be delivering their Spring Forward project to two schools in Bridgend which is about developing emotional literacy through forest arts.

Interlink are operating with a reduced Wellbeing Team up until the 23rd December.  We can help identify and refer you on to community and national services to help with both practical and emotional support.

Community Resilience Hubs
RCTCBC will continue to operate the Community Resilience Hubs up until Christmas Eve and can offer residents support for practical and emotional needs.  
They will be closed between Christmas and New Year however will continue to deliver emergency food parcels for anyone in need.

Bereavement Support
Grief Support Cymru is a volunteer-led organisation that offer bereavement support.  Based on the clients needs the service offers a range of support; Pre-Bereavement, Hands On, Listening and Moving On.

Digital Activities
Spectacle Theatre will be recommencing their Gaming Sessions and Tiktok sessions again from the 6th January.  The groups are aimed at 10-15yr old and 16-18yr olds and are held online on a Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm - 6pm resepctively.

Rural RCT
Valleys Steps have teamed up with Coed Lleol and will be looking to introduce a 6 week Stress Management and Mindfulness course combined with woodland and nature-based activities to improve wellbeing in the New Year.  Valleys Steps are keen to hear from individuals and groups who would be interested to get involve.  If you want to know more please contact judith.parry@valleyssteps.org
 

New National over 50's Alcohol Helpline
Barod and We Are With You have launched an over 50's Alcohol Helpline providing support and advice. 
The helpline is available 7 days a week; Monday to Friday 12pm - 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am - 4pm 0808 8010750.
Webchat is also available for anyone who does not wish to speak on the phone.

Mental Health Support at Work
Able Futures can help you manage your mental health at work.  They can give you 9 months advice and guidance from a mental health specialist who can help your mental health at work.
