Meet Kat

Here are some things to know about Kat: she likes rock climbing, hiking the Bruce Trail and is a self proclaimed "coffee snob" (she roasts her own coffee!)  She also has a huge heart for hurting kids and their families.

Kat has her Masters in Social Work and provides counselling to children, youth and families at the HOPE Centre.
Even though the situations she hears about in her job can be tough, Kat says, "I feel encouraged by my clients daily.  Some of the things I find most encouraging are when clients understand themselves better, when they have courage to talk about things that are uncomfortable and when they bring their authentic selves to our sessions. "
Kat has been here since September and says, "I love the heart of what Eagles Nest does and the way we want everyone to be able to access services like counselling, coaching, and group programming."

Right now in Ontario, it is estimated that 28,000 children and youth are waiting for mental health services. For some families that is a wait of up to two and a half years.  Thankfully at the HOPE Centre, the wait is not that long to see Kat.
