Forward Forward
Hello there!

Welcome to our school newsletter.

We hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to your Christmas break!

Like many others our education programme is adapting to the new norm. Many of our hands-on workshops and special events have been unable to go ahead due to social distancing restrictions. In the absence of these events, Waterways Ireland's Education team have been working hard to develop a range of FREE online resources to engage, inspire and excite young learners. Our education programme has been developed to support the education curriculum in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Education Programme Update

Since September Waterways Irelands Education team have shared two workshops online which have been available on our Learning Zone website!
Bugs and Beasties
Waterways Irelands Bugs & Beasties Halloween workshop was delivered online from the 22nd October to 6th November offering access to a range of FREE downloadable resources. The fun and interactive resources covered a range of topics and introduced students to various animals, mini-beasts and aliens which can be found along our waterways! The resources also covered some spooky storytelling where students looked at some heritage pieces written by previous generations! We were delighted with the uptake from our first online programme with over 60 schools signing up!
Science Week
Our second online programme was shared in conjunction with Science Week 2020 over the 8th- 15th November. This workshop showcased our latest resource ‘Explore Irelands Waterways!’ Our new interactive resource took school groups on a virtual visit to our waterways and introduced them to the various plants and animals who call it home. The programme linked with many of our existing resources including the Waterways Eco Dial, Waterways Fact File and Waterways Hero. We were delighted that 47 school groups totalling 1118 primary school students participated in the programme throughout Science Week!

If you got involved in either of our workshops we would love to hear from you! Let us know what you thought of our workshops and if there are any topics you would like covered in the future by our online workshops. Below we have linked a copy of our feedback form, make sure to fill it in and return to learning@waterwaysireland.org
