ASHBY: ALWAYS STRIVING TO EXCEL

SCHOOL NEWS & EVENTS MESSAGE

This Thursday we will be celebrating the Grade 6 Graduation. With the ease of restrictions, we are now able to offer two tickets per student to attend this event. This is very exciting news and information relating to this has been sent out today. Please ensure you book your two places via COMPASSTIX. This event commences at 7pm, will conclude about 8pm and is strictly for two people per student. A link will be sent out next week to families to share this experience with extended family members and other siblings.

On Friday we will have our annual sausage sizzle lunch for all students, we will be holding this event at Ashby. This year we are able to fund this event, celebrating student efforts throughout the year, charging through the challenges that have been presented to them in 2020. Please contact the Administration office if you DO NOT want your child to take part in this lunch. You will also need to email the school with any dietary requirements.

We have finalised recruitment for 2021 and welcome to Ashby, Victoria Schofield and Ryan Baverstock who will be classroom teachers here next year. Adam Gilbert is undertaking a further 12 months  in the Regional office with the Department of Education and Kate Suter has been given 12 months leave to work in the Northern Territory. We have been lucky enough to have secured Rochelle Korsten, continuing in her role as an Educational Support Staff member in 2021.
We wish Adam and Kate all the very best for next year and look forward to their return in 2022.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents, carers, and families for their support this year. I feel that as a community we have worked together to overcome or ‘overpower’ major challenges and rallied together to support each other.
The Ashby staff have been amazing and worked tirelessly to learn new information and ways of ‘doing’, working to engage students through a screen and nurturing them back into onsite learning as it came into fruition (twice)!!!!
To the Ashby students, WOW!!!!  I can’t sing their praises enough.  Each and every child has displayed resilience, determination, and grit, having a go at everything that was thrown at them.
I would like to thank our school leaders Lyla, Ed, Marcel, and Liv, along with JSC leaders and House Captains. I really feel for them and the disruption that has come with the year. They should be proud of their efforts and will be fondly remembered as our champion school leaders throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
I have said this many times and will say it again…. I am so proud to be a part of this school and value each and every one in our community. I wish you all a fabulous break, and new year and we look forward to seeing you refreshed and ready to go on Thursday January 28th, and our new prep students on Thursday February 4th.
