Hello lovely,

If you’re a stargazer you’ll already know what I’m about to say. But in case you haven’t heard the news I want to make sure you don’t miss something truly special this month.

Jupiter and Saturn are coming so close together this December it’s going to look like one single, shining planet. The kind of unusual bright spot in the sky that could be mistaken for the star of Bethlehem.

While the two planets do this dance every 20 years, this time around it will be the closest they’ve been in almost 400 years. That’s right, the last time they appeared like this was waaaay back in 1623.

It’s fascinating enough if you just like to look at the night sky, but if you’re like me and have been watching what the planets have been up to in a turbulent year then it’s even more interesting.

Jupiter and Saturn are going to align on the 21st of December, which just happens (coinkidink? I think not) to be the solstice, and while for the past 200 years they’ve been meeting up in earth signs, this time around they’re meeting in the air sign of Aquarius.

You know the Age of Aquarius they’ve been singing about in Hair musicals for years? Some believe this is a super big part of it. Others believe it’s already happened and then there are those who say it’s still a couple hundred years away.

I don’t know the answer to that one, but you bet I’ve sung it to myself a few times as I’ve been looking up at those two planets getting closer and closer over the last few months.

If you’d like to learn more, Forever Conscious is one of my favourites to follow on Instagram and she explains a whole lot about the Jupiter Saturn Great Conjunction here. And if you’re into that sort of thing you might like my story about the woo woo things I do on my travels

If you think this is all a bit too cray for you, don’t worry, it’s still freaking amazing even if you don’t know your rising sign, and you can read more about the astronomy side here.

And if you don’t already have one can I highly recommend you download a star gazing app so you know just what you’re looking at.

I have a few but one of my favourites is Skyview, and I only use the free (Lite) version so you don’t have to pay a thing.

You can just point it at the night sky or type whatever you’re looking for in the search bar and it will show you where to find it. Apple people can download Skyview Lite here while Android kids can find it here.

So tell me, have you been watching these two get closer in the sky like I have? Or is it something that's just coming onto your radar? Hit reply or come tell me your Great Conjunction tales over Instagram at @TheAmandaWoods
.

Either way I hope you catch the show on the big night. And hey, if it’s cloudy don’t panic. They won’t go speeding away from each other the next night, and will be doing their best Christmas star impersonation on the 24th of December, adding a special twinkle to the end of a very big year.
