Publishing, Reading, and Surviving in our Living Structures

Susan Snodgrass will talk about her book "Inside The Matrix: The Radical Designs" of Ken Isaacs. Discussion to follow. Sunday, December 13, 2020, 1:00 PM CST. FREE Tickets.

Making more books to make it through all the stupid shit!!

It has been some time since our last newsletter, and while our personal jobs have been extra demanding these last few months, our publishing projects continue in earnest. We've each seen the release of multiple booklets through our Breakdown Break Down Press and Public Collectors imprints, and Temporary Services has been hard at work on a long simmering project that is just about to head to print. We've kept quiet about it, in part because it's sort of hard to believe that it's finally happening, but we should have a big exciting announcement for you all in about a month. Until then, we'll just give you the teaser that its initials are P.I. and we can't wait for you to see it.

Our collaborator Susan Snodgrass just wrapped up the French translation of her book Inside the Matrix: The Radical Designs of Ken Issacs that we published at the end of 2019. Publishers Sombres torrents published the French version and to celebrate we are teaming up with them to present a talk on Zoom on Sunday, December 13th, at 1:00 PM CST. Be sure to register for the talk on Eventbrite. In response to these months spent in close quarters, Susan will focus her attention of the Living Structures and Microhouses that Ken Isaacs designed. And if you still haven't picked up her book, that remains available and the $15.00 cover price includes free Media mail shipping in the U.S.

We recently did some cleaning in the our store and streamlined things to make it easier to see exactly what's in stock. We have added some new titles by friends and unearthed final copies of some old classics so have a look if you haven't visited in a while. We're dropping off orders about four days a week at the post office these days and the ol' USPS has been cooperating with dependable delivery. If you've been thinking about placing an order or sending a gift, now's the time!

In case you didn't see it, we were interviewed recently for an article in New City (Chicago) by Kerry Cardoza: "The Revolution Starts Here: Chicagoans Imagining a More Just Art World."

2020 has been a brutal year in so many ways, but we have experienced a massive amount of support for our work since the pandemic rearranged our worlds last March. We are extremely grateful for this, and look forward to bringing you a whole slew of new publications in the coming year. Let's all stay safe and healthy and hope that we can celebrate some of their releases in person.
