Brussels, 3 December 2020 – Ecopreneur.eu has sent a letter to Prime Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki (Poland) and Viktor Orbán (Hungary) urging them to adopt the EU budget and recovery fund

Dear reader,

Ecopreneur.eu, the European Sustainable Business Federation representing about 3.000 green enterprises across Europe, has sent a letter to Mateusz Morawiecki and Viktor Orbán, urging both Prime Ministers to adopt the EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the much-needed EU Recovery Fund before December 7. This is the deadline for the European Parliament and member states to reach an agreement on the annual budget. A copy was sent to Angela Merkel as Head of the EU Presidency.

The severe shock to the economy and workers created by the pandemic calls for solidarity among all EU member states. Without support of Poland and Hungary for the MFF and the NextGenerationEU Recovery Fund, structural aid recover from Covid-19 would stop, which would result in millions of European citizens suffering from economic and social hardship.

The release and speedy implementation of the MFF and NextGenerationEU is all the more urgent in view of tackling the current climate crisis by stepping up efforts to build a climate neutral, circular and just European economy. Finally, the Polish business association has also appealed to the Polish government against the plans to block the EU budget for 2021-2027.
