Board of Trustees Selects Bid for First 2021 Water Main Extension Project

As part of the settlement with Wolverine Worldwide, the Plainfield Township Board of Trustees awarded a contract to Dykema Excavators of Grand Rapids for the first of four water main extension projects to be completed in 2021.

Dykema’s low bid of $2.7 million for the project in the Wolven Avenue and 11 Mile Road area of Algoma Township was approved during the board’s Nov. 30 meeting. The project will connect approximately 75 homes to Plainfield’s municipal water system. Construction likely will begin in the spring.

Township Asks for No Wipes Down the Pipes

Plainfield Township wants to remind you to not flush wipes or materials other than toilet paper to avoid a sewer backup.

So-called “flushable” wipes and other items do not break down in water like toilet paper and can clog pipes, which can lead to a sewer backup in homes, streets and businesses.
