Happy December! Before long, many of us will be wrapping up for Christmas and getting ready to take a much-needed break after a very challenging year. The great news is that this is the best time to dive in Gordon's Bay and we will be launching every day from 16 December until 20 January (weather permitting)! Come diving and relax beneath the waves - there really is no better place to be!
We've updated all the details of our Gordon's Bay dive sites on our website and added some new photos - please pop over, have a look, and let us know what you think!
Other exciting news is that Kate has been featured by Women in Ocean Science in their Nudibranch November post. Please visit their website to find out more about this dynamic global community, created to inspire, connect and empower women in marine sciences.
Last weekend we had incredible dives at Percy's in Rooi Els and Blousteen. Conditions were great and the critters large and small were out in full force. Francois and Bronwen were visited by the local short tailed stingray at Percy's and we found a very rare Flabellina sp.1 which has only ever been seen at Oudekraal and Outer Castle at Blousteen.
This weekend we are planning to dive on both Saturday and Sunday and the dive sites will be chosen according to the conditions. Come diving!

Our Underwater Photography Workshops are underway and we spent a fun afternoon last Saturday learning the best settings for TG5 cameras and how to be the boss of your camera :) This weekend we have our workshop on Getting it Right - Understanding ISO / F-stops and Shutter Speed. This is the perfect course if you want to move from Programme, Auto or Underwater mode to Manual and have more control over the images you make. Once you understand how to control these settings, your photography takes on a whole new dimension! Next weekend's workshop is Give it Light - Strobe Positioning and Settings. Our Underwater Photography Workshops are underway and we look forward to sharing everything we know about underwater photography with you.
The workshops will be informal and interactive.
Book your spots, bring your camera gear, a notebook and an open mind and let's have some fun!
We are keeping classes small, so please book as soon as possible.
The Programme:
12 December: Give it light - Strobe positioning and settings
19 December: The finer details - Macro Photography
9 January: The bigger picture - Wide Angle Photography
16 January: Where to put what - Composing for interesting images
23 January: Light Fantastic - Creative Lighting
Timing:
The workshops start off with a light lunch from 14:00 - 14:30, followed by the workshop from 14:30 to 16:30.
Pricing:
Each Workshop: R350
Book 2 dives on the same day as the workshop, pay R190 for the workshop.
As lunch is included, please advise of any dietary requirements.
