Learning Option Adjustment Window
From Dec 7 through Dec 11, you will have the opportunity in Parent Portal to adjust the Learning Option that you prefer (In Person or Remote). At North, we are working incredibly hard to provide flexible options for families and our intention is to have actual instruction from teachers when it is safe to do so, which is different than the virtual learning support option first semester. You only need to take action if you want to change your learning preference.
Semester 2 Structure
Thank you to everyone who has shared their perspective on whether you would prefer QUARTERS or SEMESTERS starting in January. We will communicate the final structure as soon as we can. If we are on QUARTERS, students would take their ODD classes January through March and their EVEN classes March through May. Students would have the opportunity to earn the same number of credits that they would with the semester schedule, they would just focus on fewer courses at one time. If you have any further thoughts or questions, feel free to reach out directly to Principal Wolf at Scott_Wolf@dpsk12.net.
Finals
Students will begin to take their finals this week and then finish next week. Please support your students in creating a calendar for them to prepare for their finals and to put in the work to finish the semester strong!
DPS Family Survey
Since the pandemic began in March, DPS has reached out to our parents, students, and staff members at various times to understand the challenges with remote learning and what more can be done to support the community. DPS released the latest round of surveys on Nov. 30. If you haven’t already, we ask that you please take a few minutes of your time today to complete the latest survey. The last day to complete the survey is Dec. 11. This survey asks questions to help us understand the challenges of remote learning, what your student is enjoying, and what we can do to better support their needs. It is completely confidential, so please feel free to openly share your feedback. If you have any questions or need help while filling out this survey, please email FACE@dpsk12.org.

Supporting Students as a Team
As the semester comes to an end, Learning Community mentors are encouraging your student(s) even more to advocate for themselves for support. How can you support at home? Please review your student's grades posted in Schoology with them, and help them create e-mails to teachers from whom they need more support. You can also encourage them to attend support time and office hours for classes in which they need to improve. We are seeing so much growth from students in this area, and the more we all encourage them and help them practice this skill, the more natural it will become.

Ventana De Ajuste De Opciones De Aprendizaje
Desde el 7 de diciembre hasta el 11 de diciembre, tendrá la oportunidad en el Portal para padres de ajustar la opción de aprendizaje que prefiera (en persona o remota). En North, estamos trabajando increíblemente duro para brindar opciones flexibles para las familias y nuestra intención es recibir instrucción real de los maestros cuando sea seguro hacerlo, lo cual es diferente a la opción de apoyo al aprendizaje virtual del primer semestre. Solo necesita tomar medidas si desea cambiar sus preferencias de aprendizaje.
Estructura del Semestre 2
Gracias a todos los que han compartido su perspectiva sobre si preferirían TRIMESTRES o SEMESTRE a partir de enero. Comunicaremos la estructura final tan pronto como podamos. Si estamos en TRIMESTRES, los estudiantes tomarían sus clases IMPAR de enero a marzo y sus clases PAR de marzo a mayo. Los estudiantes tendrían la oportunidad de obtener la misma cantidad de créditos que obtendrían con el programa semestral, simplemente se concentrarían en menos cursos a la vez. Exámenes Finales
Los estudiantes comenzarán a tomar sus exámenes finales esta semana y terminarán la próxima semana. ¡Por favor, apoye a sus estudiantes en la creación de un calendario para que se preparen para sus exámenes finales y se pongan a trabajar para terminar bien el semestre!
Encuesta Familiar de DPS
Desde que comenzó la pandemia en marzo, DPS se ha acercado a nuestros padres, estudiantes y miembros del personal en varias ocasiones para comprender los desafíos del aprendizaje remoto y qué más se puede hacer para apoyar a la comunidad. DPS lanzó la última ronda de encuestas el 30 de noviembre. Si aún no lo ha hecho, le pedimos que se tome unos minutos de su tiempo hoy para completar la última encuesta. El último día para completar la encuesta es el 11 de diciembre. Esta encuesta hace preguntas para ayudarnos a comprender los desafíos del aprendizaje remoto, lo que disfruta su estudiante y lo que podemos hacer para apoyar mejor sus necesidades. Es completamente confidencial, así que no dude en compartir abiertamente sus comentarios. Apoyar A Los Estudiantes Como Equipo
A medida que el semestre llega a su fin, los mentores de la Comunidad de Aprendizaje están animando aún más a sus estudiantes a abogar por sí mismos para obtener apoyo. ¿Cómo puedes apoyar en casa? Holidays Gifts For North Staff
If you enjoyed giving holiday gifts to the North Staff in the past, but are at a loss about what to do now that your child has several different teachers and support staff at North and what's more, our kiddos aren't even going to school in person right now, we can help!
North High is collecting funds to purchase gift cards for every single teacher and staff member at North, well over 150 folks. Any amount is greatly appreciated and this is completely optional. All funds donated will be used to purchase gift cards from local, North Denver businesses to mail to every teacher and staff member.

With the Thanksgiving holiday around the corner, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommendations for staying healthy and still enjoying the holiday. To help prepare, now is a good time to schedule a COVID test for before and after the holiday. If you plan to gather with friends or family, help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by limiting the size of the gathering and testing beforehand. When together, wear masks, keep some distance and wash hands.
